Car vs. deer

CRASH REPORTS

The following car versus deer accidents were reported: Calvin L. Marion, 56, of Cadott, on July 17, at 2:38 p.m., on CTH E, in the town of Hammel; Timothy Robert Filipiak, 27, of Westboro, on July 30, at 9:45 p.m., on Hwy 64, in the town of Goodrich.

Sandra Lynn Birkenholz, 55, of Gilman, was traveling southbound on Hwy 73, on July 30, at 12:45 a.m., in the town of Cleveland, when a deer came into the roadway. Birkenholz attempted to evade the deer but ended up going into the western ditch. There was minor damage to the truck and it was left in the ditch for the night to be removed the following day.

Lavonne E. Thompson, 75, of Gilman, was traveling southbound on Spur Rd., on July 30, at 10 a.m., in the town of Marshall, when a deer ran out of the yard of N7676 Spur Rd. Thompson’s vehicle swerved to avoid striking the deer and went into the west ditch. Thompson then corrected back east onto the roadway then struck the mailbox for N7676 Spur Rd. The vehicle sustained damage to the passenger side and front passenger corner.

Rueben A. Kauffman, 40, of Sheldon, was traveling northbound on CTH H when a vehicle owned by Jennifer Elizabeth Williams, 31, of Sheldon, struck the buggy from behind. Both vehicles came to rest in the middle of the road. Debris from the buggy was removed from the road prior to law enforcement’s arrival. Williams stated that the brakes had failed and was issued a citation for failure to keep vehicle under control.

Ty Allen Metz, 17, of Medford, was traveling westbound on CTH M, on July 27, at 9:10 a.m., in the town of Molitor. The vehicle Metz was driving, owned by Medford Motors, entered the ditch, struck an embankment to Langfarm Rd., went over the road entered the ditch and overturned and came to rest on it’s wheels facing the southeasterly direction. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damages. Metz had suspected minor injuries due to the airbag deployment. He was then transported to Aspirus Medford Hospital to assess his injuries.

Bradey Joseph Anderson, 25, of Medford, was traveling westbound on Whittlesey Ave., on July 28, at 11:10 p.m., in the town of Chelsea. Anderson’s vehicle crossed the road and then entered the ditch on the other side of the road. Anderson was issued citations for inattentive driving and failure to keep vehicle under control.

Lisa Marie Theisen, 53, of Thorp, was northbound on Hwy 73 on August 2, at 3 a.m., in the town of Taft. Theisen turned around to go southbound on Hwy 73 when she entered the ditch. Theisen was issued a citation for failure to keep vehicle under control.

Jason John Carlson, 39, of Medford, was traveling northbound on CTH Q, on July 26, at 4:14 p.m., in the town of Medford. Caleb Scott Heil, 17, of Medford, was also northbound on CTH Q but was stopped in traffic waiting to make a left turn into a private driveway at N3513 CTH Q. There had been oncoming southbound traffic and Heil’s vehicle was waiting for prior to making a left turn. Carlson claimed his brakes had faded and he was unable to stop in time. There was functional damage to both vehicles. Carlson’s vehicle had damage to the front driver’s side corner, Heil’s vehicle had damage to the rear of the vehicle primarily towards the center. Heil’s vehicle pulled into the driveway after the accident, while Carlson’s vehicle pulled to the east shoulder of CTH Q.

Nicholas Joseph Willms, 25, of Medford, was accelerating northeast from the stop sign at Fischer Creek Rd., on August 2, at 7:14 p.m., in the town of Westboro, when the driver failed to yield to the vehicle owned by Larry E. Schweikert, 75, of Phillips, who was traveling northbound on Hwy 13. Willms’ vehicle struck Schweikert’s vehicle on the driver’s side causing functional damage to both vehicles. Willms was issued citations for operating while suspended and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

William Jon Gebert, 57, of Medford, was stopping because traffic ahead was waiting to turn north into a driveway on E. Broadway Ave., on July 28, at 4:05 p.m., in the city of Medford. Krista Elaine Blomberg, 51, of Ogema, looked away and did not see that traffic had slowed. Blomberg’s vehicle struck the rear of Gebert’s vehicle causing significant damage to the front end of Blomberg’s vehicle and minor damage to the rear bumper of Gebert’s vehicle. Blomberg was issued a citation for inattentive driving.

Francis Elmer Rychtik, 24, of Medford, was traveling westbound on Broadway Ave., on July 17, at 6:45 p.m., in the city of Medford. Lindsey Grace Haynes, 16, of Medford, was stopped facing south at the stop sign at the intersection of N. 7th St. and Broadway Ave. As Rychtik was approaching the intersection, a third car that was traveling east bound on Broadway Ave., was attempting to turn onto N. 7th St. but cancelled their maneuver as Rychtik’s vehicle was approaching. Rychtik’s vehicle struck Hayne’s vehicle in an attempt to miss that vehicle, striking Hayne’s front bumper with his front bumper, causing functional damage to both vehicles. Rychtik fled from the scene and did not inform law enforcement of the crash. Rychtik was issued citations for hit and run and operating while revoked (4th offense)(revocation due to alcohol/controlled susbance/ refusal).
