Cadott was well-represented at the Colfax Sectional track meet May 26, with multiple athletes competing in events. But, it was senior Gavin Tegels who carried off honors of the day, placing second in the shot put, with a distance of 27-05.5, which earns him a trip the State meet in La Crosse, June 4.
“This is his first year as a track athelte, so it has taken a little while for him to feel comfortable with the technique,” said coach Pat Rothbauer. “He is a tremendous worker, with a great desire to excel, so it has been fun seeing him improve so much throughout the year.”
The remaining Hornets athletes worked nonetheless diligently, but fell shy of qualifying for State.
Sophomore Emma Kowalczyk finished seventh in the 100-meter hurdles finals (17.77) after placing seventh in the preliminaries (17.58), while sophomore Jaycee Stephens was 13th in the prelims (19.52).
