CRASH REPORTS

Nicole Hope Schroeder, 16, of Dorchester and Delaney Marie Searer, 18, of Stetsonville were eastbound on W. Allman St., stopped for a school bus letting off children, on January 20, at 3:50 p.m., in the city of Medford. Schroeder was two vehicles behind Searer, the vehicle between them turned left. Schroeder then accelerated expecting Searer to go as well as the bus had finished letting kids off. Searer did not move forward, and Schroeder continued to go. Schroeder did not realize this and was unable to brake in time and struck Searer’s rear bumper with her front bumper. This caused a trim piece on the passenger side of the front bumper of Schroeder’s vehicle to become dislodged and caused the truck door to become stuck as well as cracks and dents to the rear bumper of Searer’s vehicle. Both vehicles were removed by their operators.

Jessica Lea Jackson, 30, of Medford, was attempting to reverse south onto Gail St., from her driveway, on January 21, at 3:29 p.m., in the City of Medford. Brittany Lynn Reinhart, 32, of Medford, was driving westbound on Gail St. While in the process of backing out of the driveway, Jackson struck Reinhart’s rear passenger door and rear passenger side bumper with her rear bumper, causing scratches to the struck area on both vehicles. Unsafe backing was a factor in this accident.

Tina Marie Wang, 37, of Thorp, was legally parked in the Tractor Supply Parking lot, on January 22, at 12:46 p.m., in the city of Medford. Wang unknowingly began to back up and struck a legally parked vehicle owned by Robert Arthur Schroeder, 85, of Medford. Wang was engaged in feeding her dog treats and did not realize her car was moving. Schroeder stated he was eating an ice cream cone in the parking lot when Wang backed into his right side van door.

Theresa Ann Neibacher, 57, of Medford, was traveling eastbound on Broadway Ave., on January 25, at 8:01 a.m., in the city of Medford. Yasmine Rose Gengler, 16, of Medford, was on Park Ave. at Broadway Ave. Gengler stated that she stopped for the stop sign and then proceeded into the intersection. Gengler thought she had enough time to proceed. Neibacher stated that Gengler pulled out in front of her resulting in the crash. Gengler was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way from stop sign.

Wayne J. Szydel, 51, of Medford was driving east on Perkins St., on January 25, at 3:50 p.m. in the city of Medford. Szydel slowed and then stopped for another eastbound vehicle in front of him that was turning left into the Kwik Trip parking lot. Thomas John Eisner, 56, of Rib Lake was eastbound behind Szydel, and did not recognize that Szydel had stopped in time to avoid colliding with him. Speed too fast for conditions and following too close were factors in this accident.

Timothy John Mravik, 61, of Medford, was driving east on Allman St. approaching 7th St., on January 26, at 4 p.m., in the city of Medford. Mravik slowed to turn right onto 7th St., and activated his turn signal. Mark W. Tiffany, 32, of Athens was behind Mravik. Tiffany did not notice Mravik was slowing to turn until it was too late to avoid colliding. Tiffany’s vehicle collided with the rear of Mravik’s vehicle. Tiffany was issued a citation for inattentive driving.

Robert John Scheithauer, 30, of Edgar, was traveling southbound on Hwy 13, on January 23, at 2:30 a.m., in the town of Little Black. Scheithauer hit a patch of ice, entered the ditch, and overturned in the west ditch. Car was towed due to disabling damage. He was issued a citation for failing to keep vehicle under control, and nonregistration of automobile.

The following car vs. deer accidents were reported: Jamie Ivane Castaneda, 25, of Rib Lake, on January 28, at 6:10 p.m., on Hwy 13, in the town of Chelsea; Jamie Robert Weir, 41, of Medford, on January 27, at 5:09 p.m., on Allman St., in the city of Medford; Hope Salas, 59, of Medford, on January 26, at 6:52 a.m., on Hwy 13, in the town of Chelsea.

Tara Michelle Weiler, 33, of Medford was traveling southbound on CTH E, on January 24, at 4:45 a.m., in the town of Hammel. Weiler swerved to miss a deer, she lost control of her vehicle and entered the west side of the ditch. Weiler’s airbags deployed upon entering the ditch and she came to rest on the west side of the ditch of CTH E, facing northbound.

Chad E. Bishop, 50, of Medford, was traveling southbound on Hwy 13, on January 25, at 1:14 a.m., in the town of Medford, when he swerved to avoid hitting a deer. Due to icy road conditions, Bishop lost traction on the west shoulder of the roadway and entered the west ditch, where his vehicle came to rest facing southwest.

Aaron Leonard Holmquist, 20, of Medford, was driving south in the Kwik Trip parking lot towards the driveway, on January 25, at 5:12 p.m., in the city of Medford. Holmquist dropped his phone and reached down to pick it up. This distraction caused him to drive the truck directly into a light pole with a solid concrete base. The light pole only sustained minor cosmetic damage. Holmquist was issued a citation for operating while suspended.

Juleen Mae Bosteder-Askin, 58, of Ogema, was traveling west on CTH M, on January 23, at 10 a.m., in the town of Grover. She attempted making a left curve, slid off the roadway, due to icy road conditions, struck a traffic sign and came to rest in the right ditch. Speed too fast for conditions was a factor in the accident.

Car vs. road sign

Erica B. Weiland, 40, of Medford, was traveling on Hwy 13, on January 22, at 9:45 a.m., in the town of Little Black, when she hit an icy patch on the pavement. Weiland’s vehicle slid off the east side of the roadway, striking a road sign. The vehicle then rolled onto its side.

Hit and run

Peyton Ray Emmerich, 16, of Stetsonville was slowing/ stopping for the stop sign on Luepke Way, on January 21, at 4 p.m., in the city of Medford. An unknown vehicle was reversing out of the intersection after pulling out into the intersection and realizing it did not have enough space to cross the intersection. The unknown driver subsequently reversed into and hit Emmerich’s front bumper with their rear bumper, causing functional damage to Emmerich’s vehicle. Damages were done to the unknown driver’s car as well. The unknown driver left the scene immediately afterwards.

Fatal hit and run

Titus Terry Kottke, 28, of Athens was walking eastbound on Elm Ave on October 31, 2021, at 4:23 a.m., in the town of Holway. Paul Joseph Schmeiser, 28, of Curtiss, was traveling eastbound on Elm Ave., Schmeiser struck Kottke, and fled the scene. Kottke received fatal injuries. Schmeiser was issued 3 citations including hit and run-involving a death, failure of operator to notify police of accident and inattentive driving. Kottke was walking not facing oncoming traffic and wearing dark clothing.
