Troy Duellman went 4-0 to win the 145-pound championship, Preston Fredrickson was fourth at 126 pounds and Braeden Person placed seventh at 152 pounds for the Cornell-Gilman-Lake Holcombe wrestling co-op at Saturday’s Cadott Invitational.

Duellman, a sophomore, claimed his first invitational weight class title with a dominant run as the top seed in his bracket. He recorded three straight pins before outscoring Regis-Altoona’s Tommy Tomesh, a 15-8 junior, 12-5 in the championship match.

Duellman (19-6) pinned Xavier Gill of Glenwood City in 3:09 in the first round, Harold Garcia of Bruce in 5:12 in the quarterfinals and Jesse Bruhn of Phillips in 4:56 in the semifinals.

Fredrickson, a freshman, drew a first-round bye in his bracket and won his quarterfinal match with a pin in 5:02 over Regis-Altoona’s Mark Mauer. Eventual champion Brayden Sonnentag of Cadott (21-1) pinned Fredrickson in 49 seconds in the semifinals. Hayward- Northwood’s Noah Christianson (13-8) was a winner over Fredrickson (10-8) by injury default in the thirdplace bout.

Person, a junior, went 2-2 on the day and sits at 11-8 overall for the season.

He opened with a pin in 1:09 over Johnny Jacobs of Bruce. New Lisbon’s Dylan O’Brien won a close 5-3 quarterfinal decision, knocking Person to the consolation side of the bracket. Person lost 4-1 to James Bruhn of Phillips but ended his day with a 4-0 win over Carter Sacia of Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau/Melrose-Mindoro.

The Wolfpack placed 15th out of 16 teams with 113 points, one point behind Westfield. Flambeau was 16th with 24 points. Cadott scored 487 points to win its tournament, while Glenwood City (424), Regis-Altoona (398), Menomonie (348) and Hayward-Northwood (330.5) rounded out the top five.

The Wolfpack will join Unity and Bruce at a Lakeland Conference quad at Turtle Lake-Clayton tonight, Thursday. The team will be at the Ladysmith Invitational Saturday and then host its own Lakeland Conference quad on Jan. 20.

Cameron meet

The Wolfpack traveled to Cameron Thursday for a double-dual event with the host Comets and Chetek-Weyerhaeuser/ Prairie Farm and won four of six contested matches.

Fredrickson won both of his 126-pound matches and the three Wolfpack wrestlers pulled off a sweep in their dual with Chetek-Weyerhaeuser/Prairie Farm.

In that dual, Fredrickson got things started with a pin in 1:59 over Brayden Mohr, He had a takedown and two near falls before getting the pin.

At 145 pounds, Person used takedowns in the first and third periods to defeat Alexander Campbell 4-0. At 152 pounds, Duellman got out to a 9-0 lead before pinning Clayton Cecka at 3:34.

Forfeits at 132, 138, 160, 182, 285 and 120 pounds gave Chetek-Weyerhaeuser/ Prairie-Farm a 36-15 win in the dual.

Cameron defeated the Wolfpack 64-3, with Fredrickson getting an exciting 4-2 win over Zack Zappa when he pulled off a cradle move in the last 10 seconds to secure a reversal and near fall.

Duellman wrestled three-time state champion Tanner Gerber in the 145-pound bout and battled him for six minutes, even securing a late takedown in a 15-5 major decision for Gerber. Person was pinned in the first period of the 152-pound match by Tommy Quinn.

The Comets took forfeits at 132, 138, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220, 285 and 113 pounds.

Cameron won its dual with Chetek-Weyerhaeuser/Prairie Farm 54-18.
