It was another tough week for the Cornell boys basketball program, as they faced some strong competition.
Dec. 14 vs. New Auburn conference (L 58-25)
Cornell got off to a slow start on the road against New Auburn in the first half, but bounced back in the second, limiting the Trojans to just 22 points. The deficit proved too much to overcome and Cornell watched New Auburn take a 58-25 victory.
“Overall, we played much better than in Monday’s game, having 18 fewer turnovers,” said coach Steve Parker. “The team did an excellent job passing the ball on offense against New Auburn.”
Junior Dylan Bowe scored 13 points, while junior Blake Anders led the team in rebounds, with 9, as well as 3 blocks and 4 steals. Junior Avery Turany and Bowe also each had multiple steals. Sophomore Bentley Spangler led the team with 2 assists.

Two days later, the Chiefs saw Clayton come to town, with scoring evenly matched in the first half. The second half mirrored the first, but Clayton’s slim lead helped them hold on for the win over Cornell, 48-41.
“I was proud of the fact our team had a season-high 12 assists,” said Parker. “I was also proud our team only conceded five offensive rebounds.”
Bowe notched 21 points, while Turany and Spangler each added 6 points. Sophomore Jayden Joas-Shaw, freshman Hunter Anders and B. Anders each chipped in with 2 points.
Turany led the team with 5 assists, while junior Dawson Munson, Bowe and B. Anders combined for 24 rebounds.
