Chieftains get a win on the road to start season

Kicking off the season, the Lake Holcombe girls basketball squad headed to Chetek-Weyerhaeuser, for a non-conference match-up Nov. 16. The Chieftains saw the first half fairly even on the scoreboard, going into halftime up 25-21.

“The three freshmen (Emmy Kirkman, Abby Jones and Chloe Lee) had many minutes on the court,” said coach Jennifer Lechleitner, “and, of course, were nervous to play, but the leadership of our captains – seniors Brooke Lechleitner and Carly Vavra – helped ease their nerves.”

Lake Holcombe came into the second half putting more points on the board, outscoring Chetek, 34-23. The home team couldn’t make a comeback and the Chieftains brought in a 59-44 victory.
