The Athens varsity volleyball team won both of its matches during the Eau Claire Regis tournament on Saturday.

Athens beat Alma by scores of 25-20 and 2515. Sydney Coker, Jazelle Hartwig and Addison Lavicka recorded six attack kills apiece. Sophia Coker collected three solo blocks and two block assists. Jazelle Hartwig led the team with 13 pass assists and Savannah Epping with 16 digs on defense.

The Bluejays also defeated the host Eau Claire Regis Ramblers by scores of 25-23 and 25-14. Sophia Coker and Addison Lavicka each had seven kills. Hartwig recorded 11 assists and Epping had 14 digs. Athens is still honorable mention in this week’s Division 4 Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association rankings.

The Bluejays fell, 3-1, at the Prentice Lady Buccaneers on Tuesday by scores of 25 16, 23-25, 26-28 and 22-25. Celina Ellenbecker led Athens with seven serve aces. Hartwig paced the Bluejays with 16 kills while Lavicka added 12 and Sophia Coker 11.

Sophia Coker led the team with two solo blocks and Danica Diethelm paced the squad with a pair of block assists.

Lavicka paced Athens with 21 assists and Hartwig added 16. Epping led the team with 45 digs and Hartwig had 22.

Athens is now 16-8 overall in matches this season and 2-2 in the Marawood North Conference.

The Bluejays defeated the Abbotsford Falcons in straight sets on Sept. 21 by scores of 25-23, 25-22 and 25-22.

Jenna Handschke led Athens with four aces. Lavicka paced the squad with 16 kills and Hartwig added 10. Sydney Coker collected a solo block and two block assists. Hartwig paced Athens with 16 assists and 11 digs, while Handschke added 10 digs.
