The Athens boys cross country team took second place at the Wisconsin Rapids Assumption Invite on Thursday. Auburndale won the race and Edgar finished in fifth place.

Athens junior Nathan Wolf placed third in 18 minutes, 27 seconds, while his sophomore teammate Andrew Schaer was fourth in 18:30. Brooks Kraus finished 11th in 19:02, Nicholas Pittman 14th in 19:52 and Connor Sheahan 19th in 20:44.

Edgar’s Ethan Sondelski took 26th place in 21:49.

The Edgar girls placed third among four teams competing in Wisconsin Rapids. Amherst won the race.

Brianna Sheahan of Athens took 12th place in 22:32 and Gretchen Brewster of Edgar was 15th in 23:06. Edgar runners Amber Skrzypcak placed 22nd in 24:52 and Kira Slack was 23rd in 24:53. Addyson Zettler of Athens took 25th place in 25:07. Edgar runners Natalie Thompson placed 26th in 25:08, Ella Morse 28th in 25:52 and Rebecca Werner 30th in 25:54.

Three Lakes Invite

Marathon’s girls cross country team took second place among five teams competing at the Three Lakes Invite on Thursday, while the Marathon boys were third out of six teams. Tomahawk won the girls race and Rhinelander won the boys race.

Red Raider girl runners Julianna Thurs placed eighth in 22:03.60, Jada Prihoda 11th in 22:21.20, Laci Hoeksema 13th in 22:27.80, McKinnley Marks 16th in 23:15, Shilo Blake 17th in 23:15.50 and Addie Molepske 26th in 23:58.80.

Marathon boy runners Jaron Gage placed third n 18:03.60, Jacob Smith fourth in 18:09.30, Derek Vesely 16th in 19:45.40, Dylan Dodson 17th in 19:50, Noah Fritz 19th in 19:56.10, Owen Marks 25th in 20:26.30 and Ian Blake 27th in 20:30.10.
