The Cadott Youth baseball program wouldn’t be successful without the help from the Youth Baseball Committee. The youth baseball committee’s goals throughout the year were to raise funds to provide nice fields and baseball equipment to all players during the season. Todd Rykal, president of the baseball committee states that through donations and fundraising efforts, two batting cages were added for this spring/summer. The field that is referred to as the bus barn field seen some improvements with a new batting cage and also a donated scoreboard. Concrete and labor for the batting cage was donated by T&J Concrete while Cadott Color Center donated the carpet for inside the cage. The youth baseball league paid for new netting and supplies. The park field also was upgraded with a new batting cage and a donated scoreboard. A. Schneider Construction donated the concrete and labor to make the concrete pad while again the Cadott Color Center donated the carpet for inside this cage also. The Youth Baseball committee supplied the new netting and supplies to complete this batting cage. Coach Folczyk worked hard to get these scoreboards repaired for both fields so they could be used for this season.
The youth baseball committee has a few future projects on the list which include new dugouts for the Bus Barn Field which has a planned construction start date. This will provide shade and shelter to the players while on this field. Todd states it will make playing at this field better for both Cadott and visiting teams. The committee also has plans for constructing a maintenance/storage shed that will also include a concession stand. Due to the size of this project, it is a little ways out as it will require a large fundraising activity. Todd hopes for it to be completed in a few years. Other future goals include to keep improving the baseball equipment, fields, and to have the ability to continue to use funds generated by the fundraising activities to make a direct impact on the youth baseball program.
While talking to Todd, he states that the committee wants to generate excitement and fun around the sport of baseball in Cadott. Todd states “We want to make sure we give our kids the best possible opportunity to play competitive baseball on nice fields, with nice equipment and with coaches who will further their skills so they can be assets to our varsity program as they continue to grow.”
Todd shared that their biggest fundraising event is coming up. The Cadott Car Show will be on August 29th. Last year’s event brought in over 200 cars and this year’s goal is to bring in around 300. This event will include the car show, an apparel sale and also will have concessions available. Watch for flyers and will also be able to be found on Facebook. Another fundraiser for the Youth Baseball Committee will be the Sportsman Banquet that will happen in February of 2022.
When speaking to the coaches, you will see the passion these coaches and committee members have for this program. If you are wanting to get involved or donate your time, please feel free to reach out to Todd Rykal at any time. And everyone is always invited to stop at the any of the fields and watch a game and enjoy a hot dog and soda from the concession stands!
A big thank you to the Cadott Youth Baseball Committee for all their hard work and dedication to the program.
