Fast times propel Knights

Getting a meet in this week was something of a challenge, with the Cornell-Lake Holcombe track team battling weather, including at an away meet May 25, at Flambeau.

“We had to wait out the storm for almost two hours, but we were able to get it in,” said coach Laurie Bowe.

Once the meet finally got going, the Knights did well, with the boys team placing second and the girls finishing in fourth.

Earning first in the 4x100-meter relay, the team of sophomore Avery Turany, freshman Daniel Person, sophomore Dylan Bowe and senior Austin Bowe, ended with a time of 52.64. The 4x200-meter relay team also finished first (1:46.63), thanks to team members D. Bowe, sophomore Blake Anders, Turany and A. Bowe.

Also coming in first, were the 4x400-meter relay of D. Bowe, sophomore Dawson Munson, Person and Anders (4:22.44).

On the girls side, the 4x100 of freshmen Brooke Sime, Marcella Boehm and Haily Duffy, and junior Carly Vavra took first (52.64), while the 4x200 relay also came in first (1:46.63), consisting of junior Brooke Lechleitner, Boehm, Sime and Duffy.
