Hornets driving forward in fun Father Mac meet

Cadott took off for Dorais Field in Chippewa Falls, in the Father Mac Relays May 18.

“This is always a fun meet, as the set-up is all about relays,” said coach Pat Rothbauer. “Everyone is figured into the score, so each individual is always working hard to help out the team.”

The girls did well in the relays, with seniors Carissa Woodford and Autumn Yeager taking first in pole vault, with a combined height of 12 feet. Also placing first for the 3x100meter shuttle hurdle, was the team of freshmen Emma Kowalczyk and Jaycee Stephens, and sophomore Julia Sedlacek (61.09).

Coming in second in the discus relay, were sophomore Lucy Lindeman, senior Taylor Lindsay and junior Alyssa Derks (213-10). Placing second for the 4x800-meter relay,

were Yeager, senior Hailey Wellner, freshman MaKenna Harel and Lindsay (12:05.21).

The 1,600-meter relay team of seniors Lexxie Rowe and Haylee Rowe, Sedlacek and senior Kaileigh Tice, earned second place (4:29.19).

The girls placed fifth out of eight schools overall as a team, while on the boys side, results were unavailable, after a long wait to see how the girls did. Regardless, the meet created valuable experience for the Hornets.

“This was especially important this year, as the conference meet is at Dorais Field,” said Rothbauer, “so it is good to get a feel for the layout of the events.”
