Accompanied by coach Scott Christenson (back right), 11 Cadott archers tried their luck at the National Archery in the Schools Program May 1, for a chance to win prizes of money and scholarships. One lucky archer, sophomore Garrett Nerdrum (second from right in front) was the recipient of a $1,500 scholarship.

As more things open up, the a National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) tournament took place May 2, in Weston, where 11 Cadott archers took part in the competition. To enter the shoot-off, students in the top 25 for male and female archers, submitted a score from the NSAP virtual State tournament.

Once at the shoot-off, the top 10 for the males and females, shoot a second round, which is then narrowed down to five.

For the Hornets, seven archers, including junior Tad Weiss, sophomores Julia Sedlacek, LaRhea Christenson Angel Hladilek, Garrett Nerdrum and Peter Weir, and freshman Katlynn Jackson, advanced to the second round.

After the second round, five of them advanced to the scholarship shoot-off. Nerdrum finished in first place and won a $1,500 scholarship, while Hladilek ended in second, winning $750.

Christenson placed third and won $500.
