Accident reports

Joshua J. Lewis, 35, Phillips, and Edie E. Adams, 47, Dorchester, were involved in an accident on December 29 at 9:56 a.m. on Hwy 64 in the town of Browning. According to the accident report, both vehicles were eastbound on Hwy 64. The Lewis vehicle signaled and was making a right turn into a private driveway when it was struck from behind by the Adams vehicle. The Lewis vehicle sustained disabling damage to the rear and front. The Adams vehicle sustained disabling damage to the front. Following too close by Adams was listed in the report as a factor in the accident.

Donovan A. Cunningham, 26, Thorp, and Laura M. Sova, 56, Curtiss, were involved in an accident on January 7 at 5:30 p.m. on CTH O in the town of Little Black. According to the accident report, the Cunningham vehicle was eastbound and the Sova vehicle was westbound on CTH O. The Cunningham vehicle passed another eastbound vehicle in a no-passing zone and remained in the westbound lane of traffic. The driver of the Sova vehicle swerved toward the ditch on the north side of the road to avoid a collision and the vehicle was was struck in the side by the Cunningham vehicle. The impact caused the Sova vehicle to spin and entered the north ditch. The Cunningham vehicle veered to the left and left the roadway, striking a road sign identifying the upcoming intersection with CTH Q. The Cunningham vehicle sustained damage to the front, right front corner, right side front, left front corner and left side front. The Sova vehicle sustained damage to the left side middle, left side rear and undercarriage. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. The reported stated Cunningham admitted fault in the accident and was issued citations via mail for passing in a no-passing zone, operating left of center and reckless driving-endangering safety. Disregarding other road markers, improper overtaking/ passing left, failed to keep in designated lane and operating a motor vehicle in an aggressive or reckless manner by Cunningham were listed in the report as factors in the accident.

Nicolas D. Berger, 26, Medford, was involved in an accident on December 31 at 11:43 a.m. at 532 E. Broadway Ave. in the city of Medford. According to the accident, the Berger vehicle was backing up in the driveway when it struck a post in the driveway, causing damage to the rear.

Margaret J. Skille, 62, Gilman, was involved in an accident on January 5 at 8:30 a.m. on Polley Lane in the town of Ford. According to the accident report, the Skille vehicle was eastbound on Polley Lane when it entered the south ditch and struck several small trees. The vehicle sustained minor damage to the entire right side. Weather, road surface conditions and failure to control by Skille were listed in the report as factors in the accident.

Marion B. Griesbach, 84, Medford, was involved in an accident on January 8 at 5:31 p.m. on CTH M in the town of Chelsea. According to the accident report, the Griesbach vehicle was westbound on CTH M. Griesbach stated that oncoming traffic did not dim its headlights. The Griesbach vehicle drifted slightly toward the shoulder, which was very narrow, and tipped off the shoulder into the ditch. Griesbach said her vehicle was insured, but was unable to provide proof of insurance at the time. The vehicle sustained minor damage to the rear. Glare and a narrow roadway shoulder were listed in the report as factors in the accident.

Luke T. Melotik, 23, Medford, was involved in an accident on January 9 at 7:30 a.m. on Hwy 64 in the town of Hammel. According to the accident report, the Melotik vehicle was westbound on Hwy 64 when it struck a deer in the roadway, sustaining damage to the left front corner.

The following deer-related accidents were reported: Paula M. Peterson, 39, Medford, on December 26 at 6 p.m. on CTH A in the town of Deer Creek.

Debra J. Saxby, 57, Medford, on January 5 at 10:10 p.m. on Gibson Street in the city of Medford.

Taylor County Law Enforcement

Hunter J. Tischer, 18, Gilman, and a vehicle owned by Coleman Engineering, Iron River, Mich., were involved in an accident on January 4 at 1:10 p.m. on Forest Road 558 in the town of Grover. According to the accident report, the Tischer vehicle was eastbound on Forest Road 558 when it struck a trailer attached to to the Coleman vehicle which was legally-parked and unoccupied in the roadway. The Tischer vehicle entered the south ditch and rolled onto its top. Tischer stated that he couldn’t stop in time on the snowand ice-covered road. The Tischer vehicle sustained disabling damage to the front, right front corner and top and was towed from the scene. Road surface condition and speeding too fast for conditions by Tischer were listed in the report as factors in the accident.

Wendy M. Dahl, 51, Medford, on January 6 at 5:50 a.m. on CTH E in the town of Holway.

Douglas H. Emmerich, 55, Medford, on January 6 at 7:15 a.m. on Hwy 64 in the town of Goodrich.

Theodore S. Wilz, 61, Gilman, on January 10 at 6:50 a.m. on CTH M in the town of Cleveland.

The following turkey-related accident was reported: Benjamin Meinnert, 44, Cleveland, Wis., on January 8 at 12:40 p.m. on CTH M in the town of Cleveland.
