Two-vehicle accidents

Accident reports

Ryan G. Page, 40, Ogema, and Frederick G. Hoefferle, 71, Park Falls, were involved in an accident on November 25 at 11:53 a.m. at the intersection of Hwy 13 and Allman Street in the city of Medford. According to the accident report, both vehicles were northbound on Hwy 13. A semi tractor-trailer unit operated by Page was in the outside lane and the Hoefferle vehicle was behind and in the inside lane. The Page vehicle swung wide into the inside lane to make the turn into the roundabout at the intersection with Allman Street and then back into the outside lane. The Hoefferle vehicle came alongside the Page vehicle in the inside lane while both vehicles were in the roundabout. The Page vehicle swung wide into the inside lane to exit the roundabout and both vehicles touched while exiting the roundabout, damaging the passenger side door and mirror of the Hoefferle vehicle. There was no damage to the Page vehicle.

David Roiger, 58, Medford, and Robert D. Chaffee, 42, Medford, were involved in an accident on December 1 at 5:50 p.m. at 340 S. Eighth St. in the city of Medford. According to the accident report, the Roiger vehicle was backing up and did not see the Chaffee vehicle. The Roiger vehicle sustained damage to the rear bumper and exhaust. The Chaffee vehicle sustained damage to the front bumper and driver’s side headlight.

Erika K. Schmudlach, 21, Withee, was involved in an accident on November 30 at 2:41 p.m. in the parking lot at Medford Elementary School in the city of Medford. According to the accident report, the Schmudlach vehicle was entering the parking lot when the driver turned too short and struck a concrete barrier post, causing damage to the left side middle and left side rear. Looked but did not see by Schmudlach was listed in the report as a factor in the accident.

Scott D. Oleson, 56, Curtiss, was involved in an accident on December 5 at 7:30 p.m. on Sawyer Avenue in the town of Grover. According to the accident report, the Oleson vehicle was eastbound on Sawyer Avenue when the vehicle entered the ditch and overturned. The report stated the driver was not at the scene when law enforcement arrived. When contacted by law enforcement, Oleson stated he swerved to avoid a porcupine in the roadway. The vehicle sustained damage to the top. Swerved or avoided due to wind, slippery surface, motor vehicle, object or non-motorist in roadway by Oleson was listed in the report as a factor in the accident. He was issued a citation for failure of operator to notify police of an accident.

The following deer-related accidents were reported: James L. Carlson, 62, Medford, on December 6 at 5:08 p.m. on CTH O in the town of Holway.

Edgar A. Sanchez Guerra, 30, Merrill, on December 8 at 5:36 p.m. on Hwy 64 in the town of Medford.
