Dairyland League starts with three games this Sunday
The Dairyland League has announced its tentative baseball schedule for the summer with seven of the original 14 teams now committed to playing an abbreviated 2020 schedule.
Three games are planned for each of the next seven weekends, giving each team six games and one bye in a round-robin schedule. A post-season tournament remains in the works for the weekends of July 31-Aug. 2 and Aug. 7-9.
The Whittlesey Reds and Medford Moon Dogs are the two Taylor County squads still committed to playing. They are joined by the Merrill Rangers, Everest Merchants, Marshfield Chaparrals, Minocqua Wood Ducks and the league’s newest team, the Pittsville River Bandits.
The first games have all been finalized for this Sunday, June 14. Merrill will be at Whittlesey at 1:30 p.m. with Merrill being the home team. Medford is at Marshfi eld for a 7 p.m. first pitch. At 1:30 p.m., Everest will play at Pittsville with Everest being the home team. Minocqua has this week’s bye.
Two of the teams will represent the Dairyland League in the Wisconsin Baseball Association’s championship tournament, set for the weekend of Aug. 14-16 with the Spooner Cardinals serving as the main host. A secondary site will be needed to get all of the games in for the 12-team event.
In most cases, game times and sites are still being determined and will be publicized when they become official. But for now, here is how the rest of the regularseason schedule stands: June 19-21 weekend: Everest vs. Medford, Pittsville vs. Merrill, Marshfield vs. Minocqua, Whittlesey has the bye.
June 26-28 weekend: Everest vs. Whittlesey, Medford vs. Minocqua, Marshfield vs. Pittsville, Merrill has the bye.
July 3-5 weekend: Whittlesey vs. Medford, Merrill vs. Everest, Minocqua vs. Pittsville, Marshfield has they bye.
July 10-12 weekend: Marshfield vs. Whittlesey, Medford vs. Merrill, Minocqua at Everest, July 11 at 7 p.m. Pittsville has the bye.
July 17-19 weekend: Whittlesey vs. Pittsville, Merrill vs. Minocqua, Everest at Marshfield, July 19 at 1:30 p.m. Medford has the bye.
July 24-26 weekend: Minocqua vs. Whittlesey, Pittsville vs. Medford, Merrill vs. Marshfield, Everest has the bye.
