Join library staff and other book enthusiasts for the Athens Book Club which meets monthly. This month’s book is “In Five Years” by Rebecca Serle, which the group will discuss on July 13, 2 p.m.
Kindness Rocks
Drop in to the Athens MCPL branch, 221 Caroline St., anytime during open hours July 10-15 to create inspirational painted rocks. Free and all supplies provided.
MCPL Story Time
Parents and caregivers are invited to join story time during the summer months on the first and third Monday of the month. Children of all ages and parents/guardians are welcome to this 30-minute program. Attendees will read books together, sing some songs, learn the ABCs, and have an alphabet coloring page available afterwards.

Farmers Market
The Athens Farmers Market will be held each Tuesday, 4-7 p.m., at Athens Memorial Park.
Senior Card group
The Senior Citizens card group met on June 22 for weekly card playing at the Athens Area Fire and Ambulance Hall. Two games of Sheepshead were played. David Perrodin won the first game and Rick Schaetzl took second place. Butch Boris won the second game and Steve Klockziem took second. Sally Stubbe received low score. Newcomers are encouraged to come play Sheepshead every Thursday starting at 12:30 p.m. at the Athens Fire Hall.
E dgar MCPL Book Club
This month’s book is the classic “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” by L. Frank Baum. Join library staff and other readers to discuss on July 11, 12 p.m. New members are always welcome - just read the book and show up.
Wien Wildcats 4-H minutes
On June 11 the Wien Wildcats 4-H Club held their monthly meeting. As a club, the group saw the finished club banner and shared experiences working at Edgar FFA Dairy Breakfast. The club then decided that it will be donating to the 4-H Federation and to the Wisconsin Valley Fair Potato Booth to update their appliances. After the meeting, the group had a dairy animal workshop and members created Father’s Day cards. The September family fun meeting will be held at the Fenwood ballpark at 12:30 p.m. and potential new members are encouraged to attend.
Friendship bracelets
Youth and their families are invited to the Edgar MCPL branch, 224 S. Third Ave., anytime during open hours July 3-8 to make friendship bracelets. All supplies and instruction provided for free.
MCPL Story Time

M arathon Make a Magic Wand
Children and teens can stop by MCPL Marathon City to make their own magic wands from June 28 to July 1 during open hours. Supplies provided, costumes welcome. Free with no registration required, but large groups should call ahead. Call 715693-2144 for more info.
Rib Falls HCE minutes
Rib Falls Home and Community Education (HCE), met June 14 at the home of Gloria Kreager. Refreshments and dessert were served. The meeting was opened with The Pledge of Alligiance and Creed I. Roll call was taken with the question “How many states have you visited?” Six members were present with a guest.
The guest speaker, Vickie Surprise, shared her visit to Kampala, Uganda. Vickie’s daughter ShyAnn is doing non-profit Christian Ministry Entrpreurship there. She is also the founder of Abide Tribe Ministries. Vickie shared her photos. She brought back items that the ministries made, beautiful baskets, bowls, wooden spoons, bracelets, towels, rugs, etc. Items are for sale as this is the way to help fund the ministries.
After the presentation the group had a Fun Fact quiz. All members received a prize.
The secretary’s report and the treasurer’s report were read and approved as read. Terri reported on County Day.
The next meeting will be July 12 with a noon potluck picnic, at the home of Judy Baeseman. Husbands are also invited. The song that was sung was “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.” The meeting closed with Creed II.
Ken Lonnquist music
Children’s musician Ken Lonnquist will perform on July 11, 10-11 a.m., at Marathon Area Elementary School. Free, no registration required.
Summer LEGO Block Parties
Children of all ages and their families are invited to build creative projects using LEGO blocks on June 30, July 7 and July 14 from 1-3 p.m. at the Marathon library branch, 515 Washington St. Free, with all blocks provided. Call 715443-2775 for more info.
MCPL Book Club

Elephant and Piggie Party
Children and families and caretakers are invited to join library staff as they celebrate the works of Mo Willems this summer. The Elephant and Piggie Party will include interactive readings of some of his wonderful books combined with music and crafts. This event, scheduled for July 20, 10:30-11:15 a.m., will be held outside the library. In case of inclement weather, the event will move inside the library, 515 Washington St.

Summer concerts
Marathon City Heritage Center and Park is hosting a live music series over the summer. All concerts will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Marathon City Heritage Center Park, 301 Main St. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Food and nonalcoholic beverages will be available for sale at each event.

The Marathon City Farmers Market will run every Thursday from 2-6 p.m. until October 26. The market is located in downtown Marathon at 400 Main St.
