C.R.I.S.P. Winners

On Tuesday, Nov. 22, Maple Grove Charter School within the Athens School District, celebrated their first quarter C.R.I.S.P. award winners. Like many schools, Maple Grove has key character traits that their students and staff live and breathe everyday. Those five character traits follow the CRISP acronym. C represents craftsmanship. R means respect. The letter I symbolizes integrity. S stands for stewardship and P is for perseverance. Each grade-level teacher selected the following students for very specific reasons: In Ms. Riehle’s kindergarten class, Evie Constantine was chosen because she is always full of compliments, follows directions the first time, and treats others with great care! Also selected was Holden Heckendorf, whose perseverance is truly admirable! Both students have a strong desire to learn and have taken their CRISP traits in stride.

From Ms. Etten’s first grade class, Audrinna Knoop was selected because of much growth she’s gained already. She has the ability to persevere, tell the truth, and make her classroom a better place. Also nominated was Carver Plautz. Carver is new to our school this year, yet his natural ability to display the CRISP traits doesn’t go unnoticed. Carver also has a contagious personality and outlook on challenges near and far.

Within Ms. Narloch’s second grade, Paisley Heckendorf was selected because as a new student, she learned the CRISP traits very quickly and put them into action right away. She works hard on craftsmanship and her writing has come such a long way since the beginning of the school year. Paisley is also very motivated to do a good job on her work and get things done the right way. Also nominated was Mason Severt for how hard he works in the classroom each and every day. He doesn’t try to rush and get done early. He doesn’t try to talk to his friends to get out of doing the work. He just perseveres the entire time.

In Ms. Barrick’s third grade, Maximus Constantine was selected for always lending a helping hand to his classmates without even being asked to do so. He also works very hard on his academics and shows that he cares about the importance of education through the craftsmanship of his work. Bailey Kohnhorst was also selected because of her daily enthusiasm and positivity. She always supports her classmates on their improvements and encourages them with compliments. She really loves everything that school has to offer.

From Ms. Zondlo’s fourth grade, Lilly Gilles was chosen for many reasons, but mostly for her respect and kindness. She is also empathetic as she naturally checks on her classmates and their emotions which is a valuable asset to have. Phoenix Plautz was also chosen for her demonstration of the CRISP traits on a daily basis. She has also shown great leadership qualities in such a kind and gentle way. Her dependability and integrity are also appreciated.

Finally, within Ms. Szutkowski’s fifth grade room, Billie Grueneberg was selected because she strives to make our school a better place for everyone through her stewardship. Billie possesses strength of character and the courage to do what is right. She is a personable, fun classmate that is an excellent example of a leader. Also, Gauge Floistad was chosen for his excellence in using the CRISP traits. Integrity and responsibility are Gauge’s major strengths. He exemplifi es integrity through his honesty and trustworthiness, and responsibility through his balanced and fair decisionmaking. Gauge has an inner motivation and self-discipline that push him each day.

Congratulate to all first quarter winners: Audrinna Knoop, Evie Constantine, Max Constantine, Carver, Plautz, Mason Severt, Bailey Kohnhorst, Phoenix Plautz, Lilly Gilles, Billie Grueneberg, Gauge Floistad, Paisley Heckendorf and Holden Heckendorf.
