To make the Deanâs List, students must have earned at least 12 credits for the spring 2021 semester and have no disqualifying grades.
Seasoned players
The new season of the Seasoned Players League started out with the Pharm, last yearâs champion against Landmark. The good old boys from Landmark came out fast with Billy, Dolly, Darrell, Mark and Jimmy all getting hits and Landmark posted a 3-0 lead. The Pharm chipped back to tie the score in the fourth inning. In the fifth inning, Camouche got a hit, advanced to second base on a deep fly ball by Emp and Jimmy came up with a two out hit for the game winning RBI. The final score was Landmark 4 and the Pharm 3. Dolly, Jimmy and Heil Ginseng employee Butch all were 2-2 to lead Landmarkâs 10 hit attack.
A see-saw battle in the night cap between two of the leagueâs more promising teams, Edgar Lanes and the Mullies, came next. Edgar Lanes mounted a comeback in the top of the seventh inning. After a brief break for a rules interpretation on a runner leaving base on a swing and miss, play resumed. Chief caught a fly ball to end the game. The final score was Mullies 9 and Edgar Lanes 8. Power hitter Luke Blair was 3-3 and Whitie and Pres were 2-3 for the Mullies.
Strobes Garage needed more time to get players back from spring training. Their game with Louie/Werner was canceled.
The Seasoned Players League is down to six teams. Games are played on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. at the Edgar Softball Complex.

Grab and go
Stop by the Edgar Branch Public Library in June to pick up a grab and go kit to make your own barrette.
To go along with our Summer Library Program theme, âOceans of Possibilities,â the library will supply materials and instructions to make a barrette with a scallop shell. Itâs a perfect craft for aspiring Ariels and adults looking for a unique and stylish accessory.
Free and available while they last. There is a limit of one per person.
Childrenâs concert
Childrenâs entertainer Randy Peterson, a longtime favorite of the Marathon County Public Library, is back in Marathon County with a whole new set of songs and fun.
His new program âHenry and the Treasure Chestâ is a sailing adventure on the high seas. Henry is this young pirateâs name, and seeking treasure is his game. Though itâs riches that he seeks, what he finds is more unique. Though this is a musical program, between songs this enchanting story is âacted outâ and presented as poetry. The story unfolds with loads of audience participation and fun songs.
Peterson will perform Wednesday, June 22, 2 p.m. at Oak Street Park, Edgar.
The program is free to attend and no registration required. This program is part of Summer Library Program and is funded by the Friends of the Marathon County Public Library and with a grant from the Wisconsin Valley Library Service.
Since it is an outdoor event, families need to bring their own personal outdoor supplies such as lawn chairs and blankets, covered strollers, sunscreen, bug spray, water, and any other supplies children will need for an hour outdoors.
