If you’re 65 and older (or are approaching the age) and have questions about Medicare, come to a free informative event about the program Wednesday, March 11, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Edgar Branch Public Library.

A representative from the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Central Wisconsin (ADRC-CW) will talk about Medicare parts A, B, C & D, Medicare Supplemental insurance policies, and prescription drug coverage.

Family Adventure Night

Hear stories about gnomes and trolls during the next Family Adventure Night on Monday, March 9, from 6-7 p.m. at the Edgar Branch Public Library. Kids can also make crafts related to the stories. This is a free event. For more information, call 715-352-3155.

Youth fastpitch

Edgar girls that have completed kindergarten through 8th grade (as of the summer of 2020) are invited to sign up for Edgar youth fastpitch summer softball on Wednesday, March 18, between 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Edgar High School cafeteria. Payment of fees, donations and concession signup for middle school and high school home games will take place this night as well. Games are Monday through Thursday and tournaments are optional. Dazzling deceptions

Magician Brian Ledbetter will will perform Sunday, March 15, 1 p.m., at the Edgar Public School auditorium. His show includes stage illusions, audience participation and comedy. The performance is sponsored by the Edgar Fine Arts Association.

On campus

Ty Guden from Edgar earned dean’s list honors from Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minn., at the conclusion of the fall 2019 semester.

To be eligible for the dean’s list, BSU students must be enrolled for at least 12 credits and earn a 3.5 GPA during the semester.

UW-Eau Claire in December 2019 awarded nursing degrees to two Edgar students. They are Ryleigh Dahlke and Tammy Felix.

Cribbage tournament

The sixth annual St. John’s two-person Catholic School Cribbage Tournament will be held Sunday, March 8, 1 p.m. in the church dining hall.

Honor Flight event

St. John’s Church, Edgar will sponsor a community event from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Monday, March 30, in the church dining hall to write letters and make cards for Never Forgotten Honor Flight veterans. The cards and letters will be presented as “mail call” to 14 Edgar veterans scheduled for an April 20 trip to see the war memorials in Washington, D.C.

Light refreshments will be served at this event.

Softball meeting

The Fenwood Lions Club will hold an organizational meeting for the men’s softball league on Thursday, March 26, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at Illusion’s in Fenwood. Storytime for Toddlers

Missoula Theater

Edgar Public School will have a public performance of Missoula Theater’s “The Emperor’s New Clothes” on Friday, April 3, 7 p.m. in the school auditorium.

Auditions for the production will be held Friday, April 3, 1 p.m. There are roles for students in grades 5K through grade 12.

Blood pressure

The Marathon County United Way will hold a free blood pressure screening at Stark’s Floral, Edgar, 9-11 a.m. every second Monday of the month. No registration is required. A registered nurse will provide educational support.

Preschool screening

Edgar School District will offer screening for all district children birth through age 4. The screening will help identify any children who may need assistance prior to entering school.

Screening dates are Wednesday, March 11, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, March 12, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Birth through age two screening will take approximately 45 minutes. Three and four year old screening will last 75 minutes.
