If you’re 65 and older (or are approaching the age) and have questions about Medicare, you are invited to a free informative event Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Edgar Branch Public Library.

A representative from the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Central Wisconsin (ADRC-CW) will talk about Medicare parts A, B, C and D, Medicare Supplemental insurance policies, and prescription drug coverage.

Edgar FBLA

Seven Edgar FBLA students qualified for state competition this past weekend. Caden Higgins, Kaleb Hafferman and Everet Brehm took first in Sports and Entertainment Management, Bailey Imhoff took first in Health Care Administration. Allison Dvorak and Desirae Rausch qualifi ed for state in Insurance and Risk Management, while Carver Higgins qualified in Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure. Runners-up included Morgan Schilling, Jasmine Schnelle, Malia Hoesly, Rachel Brewster, Marissa Ellenbecker and Kennedy Butt.

Summer concerts

The Edgar Fine Arts Associ- ation has scheduled four local performers for this summer’s Concert in the Park series.

The 7 p.m. Thursday shows in Oak Street Park, Edgar, include Tiny and Shoes (Tim Karlen and Steve Schumacher), July 23; Jerry Schmitt, July 30; David Anthony Berg, Aug. 6; and Elvis (Fred Heidmann), Aug. 13.

Service groups, yet to be determined, will serve treats and refreshments in the Oak Street Park during these concerts.

The association has planned two Sunday 1 p.m. concerts in the Edgar Public School auditorium. The Cody Clausen Trio, Coloma, will perform Feb. 16 and Brian Ledbetter, an illusionist and magician from Las Vegas, will give a show on March 15.

Family fun

Edgar Elementary School will host a Family Fun Night of candy bar bingo on Thursday, Feb. 20, 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

Preschool screening

Edgar School District will offer screening for all district children birth through age 4. The screening will help identify any children who may need assistance prior to entering school.

Screening dates are Wednes- day, March 11, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, March 12, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Birth through age two screening will take approximately 45 minutes. Three and four year old screening will last 75 minutes.

Storytime for Toddlers

Edgar Public School will offer a Storytime for Toddlers program Tuesdays, 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m, at the school library. The Storytimes will include read alouds, Smartboard activities and visuals. The program is open to the public.

Book Club

The Edgar Book Club will discuss “The Elephant Whisperer” by Lawrence Anthony on Thursday, Feb. 13, starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Edgar Branch Public Library. For more information, call the library at 715-352-3155.

Baked potato bar

Hope Lutheran Church, town of Frankfort, will hold a baked potato bar Saturday, Feb. 15, 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Proceeds from the event will go towards mission projects a new worship center.

Bean bag

The Fenwood Lions Club will hold a fourth annual bean bag tournament Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Fenwood Village Hall. Registration is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information, call 715-574-2930.

Military supper

A Military Appreciation supper will be hosted by the Wien Wildcats 4-H on Sunday, Feb. 9, 5 p.m. at Edgar High School. Current and former service members and a guest are invited.

Missoula Theater

Edgar Public School will have a public performance of Missoula Theater’s “The Emperor’s New Clothes” on Friday, April 3, 7 p.m. in the school auditorium.

Auditions for the production will be held Friday, April 3, 1 p.m. There are roles for students in grades 5K through grade 12.

Woodland Waddle

Edgar Area Trail Supporters will sponsor the Scotch Creek Woodland Waddle snowshoe race on Sunday, Feb. 16.

The five kilometer race in Edgar’s Scotch Creek Woodland Preserve will start at 11 a.m. A 400-meter children’s run is set for 10:45 a.m.

The course includes a mix of groomed ski trails and single track snowshoe trails. The race/walk will be held with or without snow. Awards will be presented at 12:30 p.m.

Blood pressure

The Marathon County United Way will hold a free blood pressure screening at Stark’s Floral, Edgar, 9-11 a.m. every second Monday of the month. No registration is required. A registered nurse will provide educational support.

Celebrate LEGOs

The Edgar Branch Public Library will celebrate LEGO blocks during the month of February.

Children are invited to drop-in at any time during the month to build projects.
