St. Joseph Home & School will hold its annual pasta dinner from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, in the St. Joseph Parish Hall, located at 119200 Larch Street.
There is a fee to eat and carry out dinners are available. The food menu consists of a large salad bar, spaghetti and meat sauce, lasagna, chicken alfredo, garlic bread with cheese, beverages and dessert.
The pasta supper is hosted by WI37-Stratford/Rozellville, and Catholic Financial Life will match a portion of the net proceeds to benefit St. Joseph Home & School Association.
Breakfast fundraiser
The Stratford VFW is holding a breakfast from 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19, to raise money for The Never Forgotten Honor Flight.
Breakfast menu includes potato and regular pancakes, scrambled eggs, cheese curds, sausage, coffee and milk.
There will be a variety of baskets raffles, including a special Green Bay Packers football with signatures.
Matching funds from the breakfast will be provided up to $500 by Catholic Financial Life Chapter No. 309 of Marshfi eld.
School open house
St. Joseph Catholic School welcomes families to come learn about its school and obtain student registration information during an open house from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26.
Parents and their children will have an opportunity during the open house to talk with teachers, other parents and tour the school.
New library hours
In order to better serve the public, the hours of operation of the nine Marathon County Public Library (MCPL) locations will change starting on Jan. 12.
The MCPL Board of Directors unanimously approved the new branch hours in October of 2019.
The following are the Stratford library’s new weekly hours of operation: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 1-7 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and closed on Sunday.
Military supper
A Military Appreciation supper will be hosted by the Wien Wildcats 4-H from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9, at Edgar High School.
Current and former military service members and a guest are invited. People planning on attending the supper need to RSVP by Feb. 3 to 715-897-5354.
Screenagers
Stratford High School will present Screenagers, a video for parents and their children that discusses the balance needed of screen time, at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, in the high school gym. Punch, cake and baked goods will be provided for attendees.
VFW blood drives
The following is the 2020 schedule for Stratford Community Blood Drives from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the VFW Clubhouse: Feb. 25, April 28, June 23, Aug. 25 and Oct. 27.
People are encouraged to walk in the door of the VFW Clubhouse to donate blood, and then they’ll be be treated to a meal.
St. Joe’s Spelling Bee
St. Joseph Catholic School in Stratford will hold an all-school (fifth and sixth grade) spelling bee at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, in the school cafeteria.
The top five winners will advance to the spelling bee competition on Wednesday, Jan. 22, in Athens.
Contining Education
Stratford Continuing Education is offering a Gentle Yoga class on Wednesdays from Feb. 5 through May 6 at 6:307:30 p.m. in Stratford.

Resource Center
Play & Learn is held at 10:45 a.m. each Wednesday through May in the Resource Center inside the Marathon County Branch Stratford Library.
Play and Learn is free for familes who live anywhere to attend. It provides an opportunity for parents to meet other parents and find out about community resources available.
Play Sheepshead
All area Sheepshead players are welcome to play games from 1-4:30 p.m.
every Wednesday at the Stratford Community Hall.
Family Story Time
Stratford-area parents and their young children can attend Family Story Time at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday from Jan. 15 until May 27 at the Marathon County Stratford Branch Library.
Puppet Workshop
Children can make a sock puppet, learn and practice some puppetry techniques and have an opportunity to watch others put on puppet shows during a free puppet workshop from 3:30-5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Marathon County Public Library’s Stratford Branch, located at 212301 Scholar St.

Leap for Learning Days
St. Joseph Catholic School in Stratford is offering Leap for Learning Days, which are half days at school for children who will be in Pre-Kindergarten next school year, to try out the school. Children would need to be four years old by Sept. 1, 2020 to start Pre-Kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year.
The following are upcoming Leap for Learning Days from 8 a.m. until 12:15 p.m.: Monday, Jan. 27, Muffins with Mom/Grandma/Aunt; Feb. 10, Valentine’s Day activities; March 13, St. Patrick’s Day activities; and April 8, Donuts with Dad/Grandpa/Uncle.
Children who attend the Leap for Learning Days should come to school with a coat, snow pants, boots, hat and mittens for playing outside for recess. Children would also need to wear a pair of shoes to wear inside the school when their wet boots are removed.
Book Club
The Marathon County Public Library’s Stratford Branch welcomes people to its monthly book club at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21. This month’s book is titled, “What Alice Forgot” by author Liane Moriarty.
Genealogy training
Adults can work on their family histories and swap genealogy tips with one another during a free monthly event that begins on Jan. 15 from 1-2 p.m. at the Marathon County Public Library’s Stratford Branch. Future geneology sessions are scheduled for Feb. 12, March 11 and April 8.
