Highground holds annual Spring Bake Sale

The Highground’s “Sweet Platoon” made sure there was a tremendous variety of baked goods to choose from at The Highground’s annual spring bake sale on May 20.

The Highground raised $1,869 from the sale of the baked goods provided by the American Legion Auxiliary Post 153 and a handful of individual bakers.

“I don’t think we have ever had so many donated baked goods in years past,” said Theresa Hebert, museum curator.

The proceeds from the bake sale will support veterans’ experiences at the 2023 Vietnam veterans’ reunion at The Highground. This year’s reunion will combine Vietnam exhibits by Carl Bogar Jr. with Historic Military Impressions from 10 a.m.– 5 p.m on July 14 – 16; a “Tet Offensive 1968” book signing and sales by Carl Bogar Jr., a static UH-1H Huey helicopter static display (courtesy of VVA 331) and a Huey landing scheduled for July 15 (weather permitting). For many Vietnam veterans, the pulse of the incoming Huey meant support, rescue and evacuation during their time of service.

The Highground extended its appreciation to all the consumers and bakers for supporting The Highground and its mission to honor, educate and heal.

Those who were unable to make it to the spring bake sale will have another opportunity to score some treats at The Highground’s fall bake sale, scheduled for Oct. 7. For more information about upcoming events and happenings, supporters are invited to visit thehighground. us or call 715-743-4224.

The Highground is at W7031 Ridge Road, Neillsville.
