Notes from the district administrator

We are at that time of year again – graduation, which signifies the end of another school year. I am amazed at how fast the school year has gone by. So much has been accomplished during this school year, with collaborating with Greenwood, a successful operational referendum, a group of very talented seniors that will be going out and exploring new territories, a Loyal Greyhound Pride gas pump, air handlers and saying goodbye to a veteran staff member.
I would like to thank Mrs. Popp for her 24 years of service to our school district and wish her good luck with her new position as superintendent at the Granton School District. The district has reassigned Mr. Dieckman as the 4K-12 principal and will be hiring an assistant principal to assist him.
Mr. Dieckman will be more teacher-concentrated and the assistant will focus on the students.
Our district continues to explore ways to collaborate with the Greenwood School District. We have looked at and discussed different co-curriculars that we can work on together and are considering some different academic offerings. The two districts have taken a big step this year in working together to make sure both of our student bodies are provided with the resources they need to succeed. This development with collaboration will enable our students to do more both academically and with co-curriculars.
The passing of our operational referendum was a major accomplishment for our school and community. I would like to thank the community for the continued support of our staff and students at Loyal. Everyone working together has made our school an awesome place to be a part of. Thank you to everyone.
The community has a Loyal Greyhound Pride pump at Mike’s Tire Service. The athletic department will receive $0.02 for every gallon pumped. This will be a great fundraiser for our athletic programs. I would like to thank Mike Rueth for organizing this and making it happen. A special thank you goes out to Rick and Karen Mews for their support of the school and for allowing this fundraiser to occur at their station.
The district will have a lot of activity in the building with nine air handlers being updated and installed in the building this summer. Since April, workers have been getting the areas prepped for the installation of these new air handlers. Areas that will be updated are: the high school gym, elementary gym, district library, chorus/music room, band room, high school and elementary offices, technology education area and the middle school. These devices will be combination units that heat and cool their respective areas. They will replace the original air handlers dating from 1938 to 1997, and will be funded by ESSER (COVID) money. This will be a great improvement to our building.
I would like to congratulate the Class of 2023! Most of our seniors have been going to school together at Loyal since they were 4 years old. They have built a solid foundation for their education and have had many successes with some failures. The combination of success and failure has built them into something special. Seniors, please use the tools from your foundation to lay the groundwork to a very successful future. Work hard, be honest and have the attitude that nothing can stop you from what you want to succeed at doing. Congratulations to our valedictorian, Leah Scherer, and our co-salutatorians, Maci Bogdonovich and Anna Lindner. Good luck to the Class of 2023!
Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable summer. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at chrislindner@loyal.k12.wi.us or at 715-255-8511 ext. 1300.
