FFA students demonstrate their knowledge


Loyal High School FFA students were recently honored for advancing to the state competition in different contests. Teams competed at the judging contest at the Alliant Energy Center at UW-Madison April 26. Statebound students were (front, l-r) Andrya Wilke, Halle Aumann, Ashley Schubert, Aspen Hagen, (2nd row) Devon Roehl, Jarrett Rueth, Hannah Smith, Tanna Luchterhand, Alexis Meyer, Leah Kayhart, Paisley Hagen, (back) Aiden Smrcka, Parker Smith, Sam Lathrop, Ella Rand, Josiah Kayhart and Isaac Jakobi.
The Career Development Event teams included dairy evaluation (Aspen and Paisley Hagen, Wilke and Luchterhand), horse evaluation (Rand, Lathrop, Meyer and Josiah Kayhart), farm business (Smrcka, Parker Smith, Rueth and Roehl) and milk quality and products (Aumann, Schubert, Leah Kayhart and Hannah Smith). The proficiency state finalists were Jakobi (ag services) and Luchterhand (dairy production).
No one advanced on to nationals; however, Rand placed first as an individual in horse evaluation.

Sam Lathrop and Halle Aumann advanced to the state Solo and Ensemble competition after earning a starred first rating on their performances. Lathrop advanced for his piano solo and Aumann for her musical theater vocal solo. Lydia Vircks (not pictured) also advanced to state Solo and Ensemble for her musical theatre vocal solo and a German vocal solo.

Kylie Walker and Magnus Schweiger recently competed at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Speech and Drama Association State Festival, with Walker earning a silver medal in the impromptu speaking category and Schweiger earning a silver medal in prose.
