Volunteers needed and welcome

Granton students, parents and community members, Reminder: Volunteers are needed and welcome! Winter is here as we progress through the 202223 school year. The first semester is over and we are a couple weeks into the second. As I stated at the beginning of the school year, we are looking for help from parents, relatives and community members. Volunteers are needed. If you live in the area or are a relative or friend of the community, we are asking for you to help provide some time to work with our educators as a volunteer. You can lend your expertise, read to students, tutor or supervise students in the Granton Area School District. If you are a new volunteer, contact Sheila in the district office to complete paperwork to be an approved volunteer.
Virtual and remote learning on inclement weather days has become a part of how we operate now in school, and Granton does this as well as any school and better than most. We are proud of our staff and students and the support that parents and community members show for the school.
In December, the Granton School Board approved two significant measures that will impact the school for a long time. The board accepted the Clean School Bus Rebate Grant from the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), which will provide five new electric buses and electric charging stations for the district next year. Secondly, the school board approved a bid from Marawood Construction for the renovation of the elementary parking lot to provide a much needed and safer parking lot.
As we move through the second semester of school, keep in mind that we are always working to grow our students’ educational journey through hands-on real-life experiences, as well as to improve their reading, writing, speaking, listening, math and other skills. As our Granton Area School District Vision states, reaffirmed by community stakeholders, the Strategic Plan Steering Committee and the Granton School Board: Excellence, Innovation, Inspiration; Every day. Every way.
