Loyal Legion Auxiliary holds meeting
The Oct. 11 Loyal American Legion Auxiliary meeting opened with Chris Lindner giving an overview of the upcoming school referendum, followed by a Q/A.
The regular meeting opened with prayer, Pledge of Allegiance and preamble. Fifteen members were present.
Secretary and treasurer reports were read and approved. The Sunshine report was given by Barb Lucht. Thank yous from Bruce Hadler and Kathy Pieper for get-well cards.
Old business: Donations in December were discussed. Places mentioned were Camp American Legion, Badger Girls State, Angel Tree, congratulatory ads for graduates and the Honor Flight.
The bylaws need to be reviewed. More to be discussed at the November meeting. Also there needs to be an audit of the treasurer’s books. Julie P. and Alice K. will do this.
The group will be doing an eligibility list for membership to join the Legion and Auxiliary. These would be distributed in the to-go fish fry bags, at the bar and on the tables, etc.
The county meeting was Oct. 18 at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Owen. Those attending were Jodi L., Jackie R., Dawn J., Arlene M. and Julie P.
New Business: Dues will be increasing to $36 for 2023. Fish fry will be starting Nov. 4 and continuing Nov. 11, Nov. 18, and into December.
The blood drive is scheduled for Nov. 1 from noon- to 5 p.m.
The craft show will be Dec. 3 at the Legion. Contact the Methodist Church Ladies to reserve a spot. The Auxiliary will be serving lunch.
The Veterans Day program is Nov. 11 at the High School. Veteran and public breakfast at the Legion on Nov 13.
Dawn spoke about five ways to recruit new members: 1.) Ask to join, 2.) Bring to the meeting, 3. Advertise, 4.) Set clear club goals, 5.) Personal contact Upcoming events: Christmas Party for Vita Plus Dec 21.
Drawing was won by Dorothy Wehymiller. She said it was the second time in 50 years.
The meeting closed with a prayer. The next meeting is Nov. 8.
