Jakobis are Granton honored grandparents
This year’s honored grandparents for the 2022 Granton Fall Festival are Ken and Rita Jakobi. They were nominated by their seven grandchildren who are very grateful for everything their grandparents do for them.
Ken and Rita just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 27 of this year. They met at Spike’s, currently known as Riverside Roadhouse. Ken and Rita have two children, Denny and Janel. Ken dairy farmed until 2018, alongside their son Denny, who now runs the farm. Rita worked at Modern of Marshfield until 1999 and then at Marshfield Clinic until she retired in 2018.
Ken and Rita have seven grandchildren; Brandon (19), Isaac (17), Hunter (15), Mallory (14), Mason (11), Kelcy (10), and Alyssa (3). Each of their grandchildren can agree that they are grateful for everything their grandparents do for them, and they are two of the nicest, supporting, and helpful people they know. You can always count on a smile and a wave from both of them when driving through their yard on the way to the barn.
Ken and Rita make each moment spent with their grandchildren special. From surprise Mustang rides home from practice to Schwan’s ice cream treats, to movies and popcorn, to Kubota rides, to a game of pool or foosball, to a fish fry coupon for their birthday to Chili Corners, to baking and making cards, to being the taxi service taking them to and from practice or work, all seven grandkids are enjoying all of the memories they are making and for the time they get to spend with their grandparents.
Since their retirement in 2018, they enjoy Lamers bus trips and going out to eat. It is obvious that their grandchildren come first and foremost, but they do find time to stay active in the Granton FFA Alumni, and for Rita, Ladies Aid/LWML, Red Hats, and making homemade cards. Ken enjoys driving his Mustang and running for parts on the farm.
Ken and Rita always have a smile on their face when you see them and hold a very special place in each one of their grandchildren’s lives.
