Local students earn various post- secondary academic honors
UW-Madison The University of Wisconsin-Madison has recognized students named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester of the 2021-22 academic year. Students who achieve at a high level academically are recognized by the dean at the close of each semester. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must complete a minimum of 12 graded degree credits in that semester. Each university school or college sets its own GPA requirements for students to be eligible to receive the distinction. Most call the honor “dean’s list”, but some grant the “Dean’s Honor List” and “Dean’s High Honor List.”
-- Spencer: Margaret Riordan, College of Letters and Science, Dean’s List Milwaukee School of Engineering Jonah Hinker of Greenwood was named to the Milwaukee School of Engineering’s Dean’s List for the 2022 spring quarter. Hinker is pursuing a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering.
Undergraduate students who have earned at least 30 credits and have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher (out of 4.0) are on the Dean’s List. Students who have maintained a 3.70 or higher receive “high honors.”
UW-River Falls The University of Wisconsin-River Falls spring semester Dean’s List honoring 1,549 students has been released by Registrar Kelly Browning. To be named to the Dean’s List, a full-time undergraduate must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a scale of 4.0, or midway between an “A” and “B” average. Area students are listed below by hometown, name, and major.
-- Greenwood: Megan Serocki, Animal Science -- Spencer: Zachary Endreas, Horticulture -- Willard: Zena Thomas, Horticulture Western Technical College Rachel Schmidt of Granton was named to Western Technical College’s President’s List of High Distinction for the spring 2022 term. To be included on the President’s List, students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and carry six or more credits in an associate’s degree or technical diploma program.
Minnesota State-Mankato Minnesota State University, Mankato awarded 2,797 degrees to 2,467 students at the end of the spring 2022 semester. Among the graduates was Jack Burnett of Spencer, who earned cum laude honors with a bachelor’s degree in alcohol and other drug studies.
Undergraduate students receiving recognition included 385 students graduating summa cum laude (3.8 grade point average and higher), 316 students graduating magna cum laude (grade point averages of 3.6 to 3.79) and 317 students graduating cum laude (grade point averages of 3.4 to 3.59).
UM-Twin Cities The following students have been named to the 2021 fall semester Dean’s List at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must complete 12 or more lettergraded credits while attaining a 3.66 grade point average.
