Loyal track and field teams compete at Wausau West meets
The Loyal track and field team participated in a pair of meets at Wausau West last week, with the boys and girls competing on two separate days. The boys faced off against 13 teams on April 5, while the girls took on 14 teams on April 7.
The Greyhound boys had only one runner take placings within the top eight at the Wausau Warrior invite. Connor Genteman placed in two events, finishing third overall in the 800m run with his time of 2:23.70, and taking fifth in the 1600m run by running a 5:30.03.
Other individual results for the Loyal boys are as follows: Peyton Tsai, 12th, high jump, 4’10”, 25th, long jump, 14’6”; Bo Bogdonovich, 15th, 400m dash, 1:08.73, 19th, long jump, 16’1.5”; Preston Farmer, 24th, 200m dash, 29.21, 25th, shot put, 31’10”; Ayden Collins, 25th, 200m dash, 29.39; Jaden Smith, 32nd, shot put, 29’9.25”; Devon Roehl, 44th, shot put, 25’3”.
The Greyhound girls saw more success as a team when they competed at Wausau on April 7. Taking second place was the 4x147m relay team of Leah Scherer, Sheila Tellock, Alyssia Zvolena and Aubre Robida, who ran the course for a combined time of 1:24.35. Other relay teams that competed for Loyal were the 4x400m relay team of Abrial Kubista, Sheila Tellock, Lisa Steffens and Alyssia Zvolena, which placed fourth with a time of 4:48.89; and the 1030m sprint medley team of Carlotta Sartorazzi, Paige Smith, Alexis Brecht and Lisa Steffens, which finished in 3:09.16 to take sixth.

In the boys meet, Loyal finished in 12th place out of 13 teams with 10 points. The top three finishing boys teams were Medford Area (70), Wausua West (84.5) and Edgar (95). For the girls meet, Loyal finished in fourth place with 65.5 points. Wittenberg-Birnamwood was third 69, Shawano Community was second (85) and Wausau West finished first with 110 points.
