Case dismissed

A charge of issuing worthless checks less than or equal to $1,000 against Alexandra H. Verdone, 51, Eau Claire, was dismissed on a prosecutor’s motion.

The following appeared in court and entered pleas of not guilty: John B. Nelson, 32, Medford, battery (domestic abuse-infliction of physical pain or injury); Rory J. Cegielski, 23, Medford, battery; Shane J. Dachel a.k.a. Shane Jonathon Dachel, 34, Sheldon, theft of movable property less than or equal to $2,500.

Joseph M. Flood, 65, Waukesha, pled no contest to failure to maintain holding/ septic tanks and entered into a deferred prosecution agreement for a period of four years. Upon successful completion of the agreement, the court will dismiss the case.

Dionne A. Sorenson, 20, Ashland, pled no contest to theft of library materials and entered into a deferred prosecution agreement for period of 30 days. As terms of the agreement, Sorenson must pay restitution. Upon successful completion of the agreement, the court will dismiss the case.

Joseph Pinckney, 72, Minneapolis, Minn., pled no contest to operating while intoxicated-first offense. Pinckney forfeited $750 and his driver’s license was revoked for eight months.

Charles A. Copeland, 43, Athens, pled no contest to burglary of a building or dwelling. Sentence was withheld and Copeland was placed on probation for 30 months on the condition he serve 30 days in jail; pay a forfeiture of $528 and supervision fees as ordered by the Department of Corrections (DOC); submit to a DNA sample; have no contact with the victims; write letters of apology, pre-approved by probation, to the victims within 30 days of sentencing; and undergo counseling as deemed appropriate by probation. Counts of criminal damage to property and theft of movable property less than or equal to $2,500 were dismissed but read in for sentencing purposes.

Tylynn S. Jankovic, 27, Stetsonville, pled guilty to an amended charge of possession of methamphetamine. The original charge had been possession with intent-amphetamine less than or equal to three grams. Sentence was withheld and Jankovic was placed on probation for three years on the condition she serve 10 days in jail; pay a forfeiture of $518 and supervision fees as ordered by the DOC; submit to a DNA sample; undergo counseling as deemed appropriate by the probationary agent; and undergo an alcohol and drug assessment at the probationary agent’s discretion. Counts of possession of THC, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a drug trafficking place were dismissed but read in for sentencing purposes. Eric A. Thomas, 23, Medford, pled no contest to battery (domestic abuse-infliction of physical pain or injury). Sentence was withheld and Thomas was placed on probation for two years on the condition he pay a forfeiture of $443 and supervision fees as ordered by the DOC; submit to a DNA sample; write a letter of apology, pre-approved by probation, to the victims within 30 days of sentencing; undergo counseling as deemed appropriate by probation; and undergo an alcohol and drug assessment and follow through with any treatment recommendations. Counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety and misdemeanor bail jumping were dismissed but read in for sentencing purposes.

A divorce decree was issued to Louis B. Chaplinski, 42, Gilman, and Dawn R. Chaplinski, 43, Gilman.
