County nutrition program announces December menus

The Taylor County Nutrition Program for the elderly has announced the December menus for the various sites. Persons 60 years and older and spouse, regardless of age, are invited to participate in the meal.

Gilman

Meals are served Monday through Thursday [Friday, Meals on Wheels (MOWS) delivered Thursday] at noon at the Senior Citizens Center. Reservations must be made one day in advance by 2 p.m. For reservations and/or transportation to the site, call the center at 715-447-8234.

Week of December 9 — Monday, ground beef and vegetable stew, dinner roll, banana, cookie; Tuesday, pork cutlet, stuffing, broccoli, applesauce, cake; Wednesday, chili, cornbread, cheese slices, pineapple, bar; Thursday, beef hotdish with noodles, vegetables, dinner roll, pear, cake; Friday, tomato soup, grilled cheese sandwich, lettuce salad, peaches, bar.

Week of December 16 — Monday, spaghetti with meat sauce, carrots, dinner roll, pineapple, cookie; Tuesday, pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, fruit cocktail, bar; Wednesday, chicken, mashed potatoes, broccoli, banana, cake; Thursday, old-fashion potato soup, cold sandwich, lettuce salad, peaches, bar; Friday, lasagna, mixed vegetables, garlic bread, oranges, cake.

Week of December 23 — Monday, Salisbury steak, sweet potatoes, broccoli, fruit cocktail, cookie; Tuesday, site closed, delivered Monday, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, carrots, cake. Jell-O with strawberries; Wednesday, site closed; Thursday, porcupine meatballs, noodles, peas, banana, cake; Friday, spaghetti casserole, garlic bread, green beans, tropical fruit, bar.

Week of December 30 — Monday, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, lettuce salad, pear, cookie; Tuesday, site closed, delivered Monday, stuffed chicken, scalloped potatoes, carrots, pudding, applesauce; Wednesday, site closed.

Goodrich

Meals are served every Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Royal Gaits Arena and Stables, N3649 Spring Dr., Athens. Reservations must be made one day in advance by 2 p.m. by calling Marge Kropp at 715-748-3209.

December 11 — Salmon filet, twice baked mashed potatoes, creamed peas, whole wheat bread, spice cake.

December 18 — Pork roast, mashed potatoes, gravy, pea, cheese and onion salad, whole grain bread, blueberry cobbler.

December 25 — Site closed.

January 1 — Site closed.

Jump River

Meals are served Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon at the Jump River Community Center. Medford

Meals are served Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at noon at the Senior Citizens Center. Reservations must be made at least one day in advance by 2 p.m. Persons living within a two-mile radius of the city of Medford may arrange for transportation. For reservations and/or transportation to the site, call 715-748-2157 or make your reservations at the site one day in advance.

Week of December 16 — Monday, tuna casserole, peas, bread, beets, banana cake; Wednesday, diced chicken breast on strawberry spinach salad with black beans and poppyseed dressing, mandarin oranges, dinner roll, pineapple cake; Thursday, hot beef over noodles, corn, salad with tomatoes and cucumbers, pudding; Friday, turkey, lettuce and tomato sandwich, potato soup, peaches, cookies.

Week of December 23 — Monday, taco salad with beef, lettuce, tomato and cheese tortilla, peaches, Christmas cookie; Tuesday and Wednesday, site closed; Thursday, chicken breast, wild rice and broccoli hotdish, spinach and tomato salad, pears, peach cake; Friday, whole wheat egg salad sandwich, beef barley soup, crackers, pineapple, cookie.

Week of December 30 — Monday, barbecue chicken breast, au gratin potatoes, green beans, biscuit, beetnik chocolate cake; Tuesday and Wednesday, site closed.

Rib Lake and Westboro Rib Lake — Meals are served Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays [Friday, Meals on Wheels (MOWS) only] at 11:30 a.m. at the Senior Citizens Center. Westboro — Meals are served Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning at 11:30 a.m., at the Westboro VFW. Reservations must be made one day in advance by 2 p.m. by calling the VFW at 715-905-1235 or Pat Wright at 715-905-1389.
