Diane’s Hope Project
The Central Fire EMS department along with Dawn Voelker, owner of Shear Perfection and Lemongrass spa consultant, joined forces again to help comfort the Marshfield medical center oncology patients. Central Fire EMS went to Tiffany Bruesewitz, owner of Designer Advertising in Colby, to help with other t-shirt sales. Kim Robida put together the t-shirt design, and Bruesewitz donated the screen print for the fundraiser. With the t-shirt sales, Kwik Trip gift cards were able to purchased to give to the oncology department to give to the patients.
Voelker of the Colby Puller's club, and many community folks were essential to this operation with generous donations towards the Hope boxes.
Voelker's sister passed away from angiosarcoma cancer, so she started this project called 'Diane's Hope'. With all the donations, Voelker was able to purchase 185Hope boxes to donate to the oncology department. This year Jane Holtzhausen, former Colby EMT, and Theresa Sobeck crocheted pocket prayer shawls. They then added prayer cards to the shawls and the oncology staff set them in a basket for the patient to take.
Kim Robida, Leesha Robida, Dawn Voelker and Lin Mueller met with the oncology staff and dropped off the items. The oncology staff then passed the items out to the patients coming through to get their treatments.
We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for the support you all continue to provide, so we keep doing this cancer awareness project.
Lin Mueller, Central Fire-EMS
