Letters to the
E ditor Thank you donors:
To the Editor: Thank you donors and volunteers for your involvement at the Red Cross Blood Drive held at Abbotsford High School on September 27, 2023. There is currently a severe shortage of blood products so the donations made were critical in filling the need for many hospitals. The Red Cross was able to collect 46 units.
The students were especially helpful in giving of their time and many students and teachers also donated. Also, thank you community members for coming out and giving the gift of life. This is a project close to my heart and I couldn’t do it without your support. Due to the ongoing shortage, the Abbotsford Lions will be hosting an additional blood drive on January 8th, 2024 at Abbotsford City Hall. Hope to see you there!

Tiffany got it right:
Dear Editor: I am thrilled that Congressman Tom Tiffany’s Milk Act amendment was added to the Ag Appropriations Act! This is fantastic news for our dairy farmers, our communities, and consumers.
The Act offers essential support to our dairy farmers, helping them succeed in a competitive market. It also ensures clear labeling for dairy products, benefiting consumers and preserving the integrity of the industry.
Tiffany’s amendment ensures that none of the funds in the Agriculture Appropriations Act would fund a rule that will ban flavored milk in schools. In February, the Biden administration proposed a rule that would set new nutrition standards for school meals. If implemented, the new standards proposed could limit the amount of flavored milk, such as chocolate and strawberry, in high schools while children in elementary and middle schools would be restricted to a variety of unflavored milk.
I want to express my gratitude to Congressman Tiffany for his dedication to our dairy industry and rural communities. This achievement is a significant step forward.

Tiffany got it wrong:
To the Editor: Congressman Tiffany has proven once again that he isn’t interested in representing the intelligent and well informed citizens of his district. He has chosen instead to represent just one person and he doesn’t even live in Wisconsin.
Last week at a hearing by the Judicial Committee with the AG testifying, Tiffany, knowing he was going to be in the spotlight, and knowing he needed something to attack Mr. Garland with, and apparently not finding anything in his district sufficient enough to enrage his supporters, went looking to Madison for his fodder. An event was held there that Mr. Tiffany had by himself determined was morally offensive and illegal.
The issue at hand was a Freedom of Speech demonstration and an incident involving Parents’ Rights. This year a complaint was filed with the appropriate authorities, and they concluded that no laws were broken. Tiffany is all in on Freedom of Speech and Parents’ Rights as long as it fits his criteria of what is just and moral.
When it was his time to shine and the cameras were on, he attacked Mr. Garland for not responding to his letter about the incident. And why should he respond to an incident that is not only a Freedom of Speech event but an incident that is a city, county, or at best a state level incident and not a federal, otherwise the FBI would have investigated.
Mr. Tiffany took it upon himself to raise the alarm. I highly doubt that anyone in Madison asked for his help nor do they want some self righteous congressman from up north telling them how to run their lives. And I highly doubt that anyone in his district even knew about the incident let alone the event as a whole that sparked Mr. Tiffany’s fake rage.
Clearly this was a show for one person and for something to enrage that person’s supporters, who will in turn support Tiffany’s re-election.
As I write this a government shutdown looms. It is as such because of Tiffany and his fellow members of the Freedom Caucus. They choose to disrupt government and cause economic hardship knowing that their demands will not pass the Senate. A shutdown serves no one except those who cause it.
From Tiffany who feels that he can inject himself where ever he sees fit, to our state and local representatives, who seek to nullify the newly and overwhelmingly elected Supreme Court Justice, stripped power from the incoming Governor Evers, made Wisconsin the poster-child of gerrymandering, want to exercise control over women, and refuse to decriminalize a plant. The GOP stands in direct contrast of the majority of Wisconsinites on these issues and more.
It doesn’t take a genius to see that the so called Government Of the People’s hard-line, take no prisoners, minority rule approach to politics sews discontent and causes harm and hardship to it’s people. And it certainly isn’t the American Way. The people of Wisconsin deserve better.
