It can’t be time for school yet?

It can’t be time for school yet? It can’t be time for school yet?

It seems like just yesterday we were ushering a new group of high school graduates into adulthood as we covered Colby and Abbotsford graduation ceremonies.

Last week, I asked Nathaniel what he would be having for sports coverage as I do every week to see how many pages his sports section might be and he told me his high school sporting events were back. I couldn’t believe that we already had football game recaps to publish and this weekend, we have other sports starting up.

It seems as if the summer has flown by. I think Nathaniel said it best two weeks ago when he said maybe he was naive to think his summers would be a time of relaxation. Over the course of this summer, I’ve been a participant in two weddings with one yet to go. That coincides

ife with bachelor party weekends. There’s four weekends gone right off the bat. Five, if you count this weekend as I have another bachelor party. Add in the cascade of summer events hosted by our area municipalities and it fills up the schedule pretty quickly. Kaitlyn and I were able to fit a weekend away to Wisconsin Dells in the schedule as well as a trip or two up to my uncle’s cabin in Lake Holcombe. I didn’t get the summer of lawn care in that I wanted to but as the old cliche goes, there’s always next year.

I also was a part of the Abbotsford Merchants baseball team which certainly takes up a good amount of time during the summer. I was able to break out the golf clubs quite a bit, especially in the beginning part of summer, which was something I hadn’t gotten to do as much in the past.

Now that I’m writing it out, I did get to do quite a bit this summer. Although it was busy, I think it was fulfilling and a nice way to head into fall.

However, even though summer is nearly gone, it leads into a fall season that gets me very excited. I’m a sports fanatic. I play fantasy football, watch college football and love to root for the Packers and Badgers.

Fall means all of those teams are back in action. There’s nothing like tuning into NFL Redzone on a Sunday afternoon. It’s a television program that bounces between all of the NFL games that particular Sunday. It’s a Godsend for people like me who have fantasy football players playing on various teams at the same time.

Football isn’t the only reason I can’t wait for fall. I enjoy heading out to fall festivals and pumpkin patches. The fall colors are always a sight to see and we’ve even got our first wedding anniversary coming up in September. No, I haven’t forgotten... yet.
