Fishing contest now open The Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce and the Abbotsford Sportsmen’s Club are sponsoring a fishing contest that is now open. Prizes will go to the winners.

Abby starts centennial events with “dress-up” day The Abbotsford Centennial celebration gets underway this week with “dressup” day Friday, featuring merchants and clerks in old fashioned costumes as well as any interested person who wishes to participate in the old time dress-up.
Minister at North Green Grove honored on Sunday Rev. Arthur Rasch, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north Green Grove, and St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Unity, was honored at a farewell-retirement party on Sunday, May 27, 1973.
Colby track men break three season records Colby track athletes broke three school track records in competition this season. Bob Koontz broke the 440 meter run record, the 880 meter relay team of Koontz, Bill Meyer, Ross Rannow and Randy Schultz and the mile relay team of Koontz, Guy Ganz, Lea Eggebrecht and Brian Eggebrecht also broke a school record.

Colby’s Third Street project keeps expanding The city of Colby approved some more new wrinkles this week for the reconstruction of Third Street between Broadway and Clark Streets. The council approved to replace all the curb and gutter as part of the ongoing repair work.
Abby attorney to study utility proposal Elder Enterprises had previously proposed that any developers who share future benefits in the utility lines being built for a development near the Hwy. 29 bypass should also share in the cost of undevelopable land crossed by those lines.
Rannow to run for Clark County sheriff Ross Rannow, a member of the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department, has announced his intention to run again for the Clark County Sheriff position.
