Boy scouts have district meeting at Colby Boy Scouts from Abbotsford attended a North Wood District monthly round table at Colby, last Wednesday night.
Victor Oesterling, Marshfield, assistant field commissioner, presided at the scouters’ session and outlined plans for preparing a map showing all the camping places used by the district troops.
The district first aid meeting will be held March 9 at 7 o’clock in the Sacred Heart school hall at Marshfield. A Samoset council first aid meet will be held in Marshfield, March 28.
Need for doctor discussed by Chamber of Commerce The Chamber of Commerce held a dinner meeting Monday evening, at the Presbyterian church. Dinner was served by the Ladies’ Home Mission at 6:15 o’clock.
The business meeting was largely taken up by a discussion of ways and means of getting a resident doctor of medicine in Abbotsford. Living accommodations for a family are needed.
50th anniversary Feb. 26 is the 50th anniversary of farm extension work, a movement which has grown into America’s famed and fruitful state and county Agricultural Extension Service.

Three file for District 17 post Due to redistricting in Marathon County, two incumbents, Loddie Loskot and Sylvester Ellenbecker will be challenging one another for county supervisor of District 17 which comprises the towns of Holton, Johnson and Frankfort. Clarence Rankl, Route 1, Abbotsford is also a candidate for that post. The three men will face each other in the March 6 primary with the two top vote getters to face each other in the general election in April. Loskot originally represented the town of Frankfor t , Hull and Marathon County portions of Abbotsford and Colby. However, the town of Frankfort was put with the town of Johnson and Holton, Ellenbecker’s District.
The town of Hull and city of Abbotsford and Colby, also Loskot’s area, was redistricted with the town of Hull, Brighton and Unity. Ed Melander is unopposed for election to that district.
The town of Bern, which once was part of District 17, was connected with the town of Berlin, Hamburg and Halsey of District 16.
In the county, there are a total of 39 district, two new areas due to the change. Approximately 2,500 persons reside in each district.
Ellenbecker, a farmer is presently chairman for the town of Johnson, served for four years on the school board of District 2 in the town of Johnson and a member of the Marathon County Board of Supervisors for the past two years.
