Playoffs set for Thursday and Friday night here The top teams of the Northern and Southern Divisions of the 3-C Conference will meet in the annual 3-C Playoff Tournament, at Abbotsford, Thursday and Friday nights, Feb. 19 and 20, to determine the conference champions and runners-up. Although Medford, with a perfect conference season, in the Northern Division, and Greenwood, with a 9 to 1 record in the Southern Division, had cinched their division championships before, several of the runner-up teams weren’t d e t e r mined until the final games of the regular conference season last week.
The Unity Tigers took possession of the second place position in the Southern Division by beating Colby 55-46. Colby and Unity were tied for second place going into this final game which bounced the Colby Hornets down into third place. Loyal’s Maroons, who were tied with Spencer for third place, won the right to play in the Playoffs by dumping the Rockets 67-57 to finish in fourth place in their division.
In the Northern Division, Phillips ended up in second place with a 7-3 conference record when they downed the scrappy Rib Lake Lakers 50-47 Friday night. The loss by the Lakers put them in a tie for third place with Abbotsford. According to conference rules, the tie was settled by a flip of a coin which was won by Rib Lake.

School building program in Colby will cost $1.2 million A $1,275,000 bond referendum for a school building program will probably be presented to the electors for a decision in the latter part of March, according to declarations of the Colby Board of Education in their meeting on Monday night.
The proposed building program was discussed with Norbert Schaefer, of the Stubenrach Associates, architects for the project and incorporates a new elementary school in the city of Colby and music and home economics additions to the juniorsenior high school building. Schaefer presented a variety of possibilities and cost estimates to the board and it was determined that the areas decided upon best met the building needs.
A special meeting of the board is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 22, at which time a formal resolution for a referendum will be adopted and a date set for voting.
An informational meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 13 at which time the program will be fully explained to interested electors of the district.
The present proposal calls for a kindergarten through grade six new elementary school to be constructed in the southwest area of the present junior-senior high school area. The site is over 50 acres in size and would provide sufficient area for playground needs without the need to purchase additional land.
