Pay hike given to mayor, council City council members of Colby as well as the mayor will receive salary increases effective following the spring election in 1974, it was moved at the monthly meeting of the council Tuesday night.
The mayor’s salary will increase from $25 to $60 per month and council members from $10 to $20 per month. For special council meetings or committee meetings, members will receive $10, although they must be present at these meetings. In other business, the council renewed its contract with Leland Knapp, Pi t t svi l l e, Colby’s assessor, adopted a snowmobile ordinance and discussed this summer’s centennial activities.
Knapp told the council that this year he will “update” Wards two and three in Colby and put all information on new appraisal cards. His fee for this service will be $1,260 plus 10 percent to pay unemployment insurance for employees. He strongly pointed out that this will not be a revaluation of these wards. For the past two years, he has been checking Ward one and indicated that next year, this ward will be rechecked and all information put on the new appraisal cards.
In regards to the new ordinance, it does not change any of the snowmobilers rules in Colby. However the ordinance, No. 195, complies with state laws and stipulates that snowmobilers use the marked trails when traveling in the city.
