Abbotsford Class of ‘66 Reunion

The Abbotsford High School class of 1966 held an informal, 58 year reunion, on Sept. 28, at Jack’s Cantina in Abbotsford. Thirteen classmates were present, including one Dor-Abby classmate. The classes of ’65 and ’67 were also invited to stop in. Three members of the class of ’65 attended. They were Ken Christianson, Dave Nickolay and Phil Nelson.

The class of ’66 started in August of 1962 with 82 freshmen in the Dor-Abby High School. In 1964, the Dor-Abby High School ended and Abbotsford High began. The class lost 38 classmates because of the change. The new high school was open for use in April of 1966 and this class was the first to graduate from the new school, on May 25, 1966.

The classmates enjoyed a time of visiting and catching up with each others’ lives. They enjoyed viewing memorabilia from high school days and reliving memories of days gone by.

Deceased members were remembered: Dennis Zwirchitz- 1968, in Viet Nam; Robert Olsen-1998; Bruce Klocke-2005; Kathlene Knight-2014; Patricia (Spence) Hutman-2019; Beverly (Underwood) Felstead-2019; Elyse (Lisa Hug) Stewart-2020; Roger Klimpke-2021; Duane Grube-2024; and Wendy Wojner, the day before the reunion-2024. Phone messages from members who could not attend were shared with the group.

It was a night to go down memory lane and enjoy each others’ company who attended. It was so good to see each of you. The class hopes they will be able to meet again for another reunion.

Sandi Orth, Barb Jensen, Diane Lulloff and Clayton Kattre did a great job for helping plan and put together this gathering.
