ABBOTSFORD FOREST TRAIL OPEN

The Abbotsford school district forest trail is open for walking and biking. The trail is crushed blacktop that has been rolled. It will harden more with rain. Starting on Hemlock Street, go twice around and end back at Hemlock Street to traverse a mile. Please no motorized vehicles or dogs.

ABBOTSFORD LIONS MEETS

Abby Lions always meet on the third Monday of the month at Abbotsford City Hall at 6 p.m.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

The Knights of Columbus Colby Council is sponsoring a Punt, Pass & Kick competition for boys and girls, ages eight to twelve years of age. Competition well be on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Colby High School football field. Registration is at 12:15 p.m., with competition scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m.

ABBOTSFORD HOPE CENTER

The Hope Center in Abbotsford is offering free English lessons on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. and on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. There are also free Spanish lessons on Thursdays from 4 p.m. - 5 p.m.

To participate in the classes, students must register at www.hopecenter.space. To join via Zoom during class, text 715316-4466. The Hope Center is also hosting a worship service at 10 a.m. on Sundays.

ABBOTSFORD SWIM LESSONS, WATER AEROBICS AND OPEN SWIM

Abbotsford school district holds swim lessons for levels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 for swim instruction for eight weeks beginning Sunday, Sept. 22. Either at 5-5:30 p.m. or 5:30-6 p.m. Pre-register by Sept. 18. Each level focuses on improving skills and stroke refinement. Swimmers move through the levels as skills are met and mastered. A minimum of 12 sign ups are required otherwise class will be cancelled.

Water aerobics is a low impact exercise using water resistance. There are two sessions coming up spanning over eight weeks starting Sunday, Sept. 22 and Wednesday, Sept. 25. Sunday and Wednesday sessions are from 6-7 p.m. $30/per person/session. Pre-register by Sept. 18. A minimum of 11 sign ups are required otherwise sessions will be cancelled. Lap swim will be during water aerobics.

Open swim - The pool is open to students and the public for diving and recreation. Session one: Sundays from 3-5 p.m. Session two: Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m. Sessions begin Sept. 22 and 25. $2 per person at the door or pre-pay $15 per session by Sept. 18. No need to carry money each visit.

Please use Door K (back behind the high school; around the corner from the overhead shop door) to enter the building for classes/sessions.

NATIONAL “WALK TO SCHOOL DAY”

The Abbotsford school district will be participating in “National Walk to School Day” on Oct. 2. Students and staff will meet at 8:45 a.m. at the Public Safety Building and walk to school together.
