Bobbie Lee named Lions’ Student of the Quarter
Abbotsford High School senior Bobbie Lee has been named the Abbotsford Lions Club Student of the Quarter for the 2nd quarter of the 2019-20 school year.
Lee carries a rigorous class schedule that includes written communication, calculus, German IV, family living, foundations of art and design, teacher aide, and mixed choir. She has participated in many co-curricular activities, including National Honor Society, Student Senate, Forensics, FFA, BLAST, and the one-act play. She is a member of the swim and track teams. She also represented her school and community at Badger Girls State this past summer.
Andrew Brehm, math/science teacher and track coach, highly recommended her for the Student-of-the-Quarter award.
“Bobbie is a fantastic student, having taken my physical science, trigonometry, and chemistry classes, earning very high marks in all of them,” Brehm stated. “She sets very high expectations of herself and provides a lot of energy to accomplish them. She is very selfless with her time and is definitely a ‘giver,’ helping others with their work; I will miss having her in her class. She asserts herself and ‘sticks up’ for what she believes is right. I consider Bobbie a role model for others in our school and I endorse her for the Student-of-the-Quarter recognition and any other award for which she might qualify.”
Bobbie’s volunteerism attests to her belief in community service. She has been actively involved in Walk-to-End Cystic Fibrosis, Farm Technology Days, and her local FFA Dairy Breakfasts yearly.
When asked to identify an outstanding feature of the community, Lee applauds Abbotsford School District’s commitment to distance learning. “When high school students are able to take a distance learning class, being able to communicate with others from several locations (and schools) is great,” she wrote. “The past four years, while taking my German class (via distance learning), I have learned to be patient with technology problems and how to fix those tech problems. I have also met other teenagers who love to learn.”
When asked to define a major world problem, Bobbie responded, “The problem I would face would be unemployment. Often, citizens who are unemployed feel they cannot accomplish anything. They cannot afford to go to school to learn the skills meant for jobs in today’s society. I wish I could create an organization to help those citizens grow their confidence and to learn new skills that will help them find a new job to support themselves and their family members.”
Lee works as a lifeguard for both the Abbotsford and Colby school districts.
After graduation, she plans to attend UW-Eau Claire or UW-Whitewater, with a major in German (teaching) and minor in early childhood.
Bobbie is the daughter of Vicki Lee, Abbotsford.
