1933-2019 John Peterson, 86, of Jump River, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019 at Rib Lake Health Services. A celebration of life service will be held at the Gilman Funeral Home on Monday, Dec. 30 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Nebo Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 29 from 2-5 p.m. and on Monday morning one hour prior to services. John was born on April 24, 1933 to Emily and Emmanuel Petersen in Partington, England. He came to the United States as an infant and was raised on the family farm in Jump River. He graduated from Hannibal High School. Upon graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force and served dutifully for 22 years. He was stationed at many bases during his career, but his favorite was Eielson Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska. He retired as a master sergeant in 1973 and moved his family back to Jump River where he resided for the remainder of his life. John married the love of his life, Margaret Benning, on June 7, 1958. Together they raised six children. He was a wonderful husband, father and provider that loved his family passionately. He was loved very much and will be greatly missed. John had many passions in life. He loved hunting and fishing, but his greatest passion was baseball. He was a pitcher in high school and went on to play semi pro. He loved the Minnesota Twins and never missed a game. John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marge; and his six children, Bob Peterson of Jump River, Mike Peterson of Gilman, Richard Peterson of Medford, Sandy (Ed) Anderson of Camano Island, Wash., Nancy Kadlec of Eau Claire and Judy (Tim) Kolecheck of Boyd. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim, and his best friend, Wally Shepherd. 1963-2019 Jack A. Boardman, 56, of the township of Harding, Lincoln County, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019 at his residence. 1928-2019 Gene H. Ridderbush, 91, of Colby, passed away while surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019 at The Waterford in Colby. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 23 at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer with Rev. Mark Neumann officiating. Family and friends were invited to gather at the funeral home on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Private committal services will be held at a later time. Gene’s pallbearers were Michael, Steve and Matthew Johnson, John and Bryan Beck and Michael Perkins. His honorary pallbearer was Christopher Brecke. Gene was born on April 10, 1928 in the town of Holton, the son of Herman and Viola (Johnson) Ridderbush. He attended Pine Valley Country School in Deer Creek. On Feb. 12, 1955, he was united in marriage to Mae Belle Bremer at the Community Evangelical Church in Medford. Together they owned and operated a dairy farm in rural Abbotsford while raising their five children. Gene’s hobbies included tending and caring for flowers and vegetables for a local greenhouse as well as caring for his own vegetables and beautiful flowers of every kind. He was always willing to help neighbor farmers with tractor work. His children remember their dad spending time and playing with them “in between chores of course”. Gene and Mae also enjoyed traveling together. Gene is lovingly survived by his five children, Dennis Ridderbush of Mobile, Ala., Lynn (Dan) Beck of Phillips, Sherry (Dennis) Johnson of Abbotsford, Pamela (Kenneth) Geiger of Dorchester and Lori (Chris) Perkins of Athens; his 11 grandchildren, Mike Johnson, John Beck, Steve Johnson, Bryan Beck, Christene Burg, Matthew Johnson, Jenny Beck, Christopher Brecke, Stephanie Brecke, Michael Perkins and Brittany Perkins; and his 12 great-grandchildren, Megan and Nicole Beck, Olivia and Garrett Burg, Abby, Stella and Natalie Beck, Madisen Johnson, Austin, Zayla and Zenley Johnson and Jackson Perkins along with other relatives and friends. 1934-2019 George E. Daniels, 85, of Medford, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019 at Rib Lake Health Services, surrounded by family, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. 1949-2019 Duane Allan Kobielush, 70, of Traverse City, Mich., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019 at The Villa at Traverse Point. 1937-2019 William R. Doberstein Sr., 81, of Ogema, passed away on Friday, Dec. 13, 2019 at Deerview Meadows, under the care of Hope Hospice. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date. William was born on Dec. 27, 1937 to Randolph and Dagmar (Olsen) Doberstein in Medford. He attended Holway schools and Medford High School. After school he enlisted in the Marines and served at Camp Pendleton. He married Marie A. Ross on Oct. 1, 1960 and together they raised five children. Marie preceded William in death on Jan. 6, 1995. He later married Lucille M. Williams on Feb. 20, 1998 and she survives. William worked in the Milwaukee area at GM Automotive. He then worked road construction throughout Wisconsin. He later worked for Weather Shield until his retirement. In his spare time William enjoyed hunting, mowing lawn and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his wife, William is survived by his five children, Dawn Lungstrom, Natalie Nowak of Stevens Point, Bill (Susie) Doberstein Jr., John (Heidi) Doberstein and Roxann Neubauer, all of Medford; one step-child, Tracey Rohde of Ogema; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild with another on the way; four step grandsons; and one sister, Mary (Ronny) Miller of Unity.
