R EPORTS Two vehicle crashes

On September 5, at 11:50 a.m., a vehicle operated by Thomas Pescinski, 66, of Owen, was northbound on CTH DD and approaching the stop sign controlled intersection with Hwy 64 in the town of Hammel. Pescinski’s vehicle did not stop and went around another uninvolved vehicle waiting at the stop sign. The Pescinski vehicle entered the intersection striking the front end of a semi and trailer operated by Patrick Jenness, 69, of Owen, and owned by Hanson Masonry and Concrete, of Owen, which had been traveling westbound on Hwy 64 and slowing to turn south onto CTH DD. According to the crash report, Pescinski advised that due to neuropathy in his feet he was unable to pick up his foot from the gas pedal and move it to the brake pedal. The road was closed for one hour, 18 minutes. Pescinski sustained a suspected minor injury and was transported to Aspirus Medford Hospital. His front seat passenger, Sharon Pescinski, 67, of Owen, was transported by helicopter to Aspirus Wausau Hospital with suspected serious injuries. Thomas Pescinski was issued a citation for failure to stop at a stop sign. The Jenness vehicle sustained functional damage.

On September 2, at 2:45 p.m., a vehicle operated by Michael Chariton, 56, of Medford, was traveling northbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Little Black while a vehicle operated by Judith Justman, 72, of Wausau, was traveling southbound and pulling a recreational trailer. According to the crash report, Chariton advised he had fallen asleep at the wheel and crossed into the southbound lane. The Chariton vehicle struck the Justman vehicle on the front driver’s corner and dragged all the way down the driver’s side, striking the attached trailer. The Chariton vehicle continued onto the western shoulder of Hwy 13. Chariton was transported by ambulance with a suspected minor injury. Justman was also transported by ambulance to Aspirus Medford Hospital and Clinics with a suspected minor injury. Both vehicles were towed due to disabling damage. Chariton was issued a citation for inattentive driving.

On September 7, at 2:55 p.m., a vehicle operated by Rebekah Strobach, 21, of Westboro, was traveling westbound on Hwy 64 near the Lekie Dr. intersection. A vehicle operated by Robert Noland, 87, of Medford, came to a stop at the stop sign controlled intersection with Lekie Dr. Noland then failed to yield the right of way and entered the intersection and was struck by Strobach’s vehicle in the passenger side. According to the crash report, Noland advised he looked but did not see the Strobach vehicle. Both vehicles were towed due to disabling damage. Noland was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Medford Hospital and Clinics with suspected serious injuries. Noland was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign.

Hit and run

On September 3, at 10:28 a.m., a vehicle owned by Shawn McDonnell, of Withee, was legally parked on the east side of CTH Q in the town of Medford, facing north. A vehicle operated by an unknown driver backed out of a driveway on the west side of the road. While backing, the vehicle struck the McDonnell vehicle which was unoccupied at the time of the crash and then left the scene. The McDonnell vehicle sustained minor damage to the driver side cab behind the door and was driven from the scene.

On September 9 at 4:14 p.m., a vehicle owned by Justin Zirngible, 50, of Medford, was parked and unoccupied on Seventh St. in Medford. It appeared another vehicle struck the Zirngible vehicle causing damage to the tail light and scratches down the driver’s side of the vehicle.

One vehicle crashes

On September 9 at 8:30 a.m., a vehicle operated by Natalie Arnos, 34, of Rib Lake, was traveling northbound on Spirit Lake Road in the town of Rib Lake. The front passenger tire of the vehicle clipped the ditch line of the road and due to the steep grade of the ditch, the vehicle was pulled into the ditch. The vehicle sustained functional damage. It was pulled from the ditch and driven from the scene.

On September 7, at 2:30 a.m., a vehicle operated by Kathryn Holmes, 64, of Westboro, was traveling northbound on CTH D in the town of Rib Lake, approximately.5 miles south of Rustic Road. The vehicle left the roadway going into the west side ditch and striking a tree.The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Holmes was issued a citation for failure of operator to notify police of accident.

Deer-related crashes

On September 5 at 8:31 p.m., a vehicle operated by Richard Scott, 61, of Monroe, was traveling northbound on Ness Road in the town of Aurora. According to the crash report the driver “swerved to avoid ‘deer’ in the roadway” and entered the west ditch. The vehicle rolled over in the ditch before coming to a rest on its passenger side. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Scott was issues citations for OWI (4th) and failure to keep vehicle under control.

On September 11 at 6 a.m., a vehicle operated by Gaige Ingersoll, 19, of Medford, struck a deer while traveling eastbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Browning. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

On September 9 at 8:27 p.m., a vehicle operated by Lisa Schafer, 58, of Medford, struck a deer while traveling northbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Deer Creek. The vehicle sustained functional damage.

On September 9, at 5:35 a.m., a vehicle operated by Jaxsyn Johnson, 21, of Withee, struck a deer while traveling eastbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Hammel. The vehicle sustained functional damage.

On September 11, at 6:36 a.m., a vehicle operated by Jeremy Albers, 45, of Medford, struck a deer while traveling westbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Medford. The vehicle sustained functional damage.

On September 8, at 5:50 a.m., a vehicle operated by Kendra Romig, 31, of Medford, struck a deer while traveling southbound on CTH C in the town of Deer Creek. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.
