Granton School District welcomes new staff members

The TRG had new staff members at the Granton School District complete a survey to help the community get to know them a little better. The following are their responses.
JEREMIAH BLUME
1. Hometown Loyal 2. New position Kindergarten teacher 3. Education I have a bachelor’s degree — elementary education license.
4. Experience I substituted for the School District of Marshfield previously at several of the elementary schools, but this is my first year teaching full-time. I have also coached youth sports for many years, with kids ranging from 5-12 years old.
5. What do you enjoy about schools/what made you enter the education world?
I love seeing kids grow, learn, develop, and become their own person. The joy you see on their faces when they grasp a new concept or truly understand something makes you feel really good about being a teacher/coach.
6. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I currently live in Marshfield with my wife, Jennie, and two daughters, Bristol (11) and Brooklyn (8). I coach for Marshfield Fastpitch and actually have coached both of my daughters’ teams last year. I love sports and love being outside. This past summer we visited five different national parks, including Yellowstone, Glacier, and the Badlands.
7. Anything else you would like the community to know?
I am passionate about teaching youth, and am extremely excited to begin this new chapter in my life with Granton.
MADELYN NELSON
1. Hometown Iola-Scandinavia 2. New position Fifth and sixth grade English/language arts (ELA), social studies, and sixth grade homeroom 3. Education In 2021, I earned a bachelor of science degree in education with a minor in human development from the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. I currently hold a State of Wisconsin lifetime teaching license for early childhood—middle childhood, and middle childhood—early adolescence.
4. Experience I completed my college practicums and student teaching within Green Bay area public schools, as well as in smaller school districts. This will be my fifth year teaching. Previously, I taught fifth grade, focusing on reading, social studies, ELA, and science.
5. What do you enjoy about schools/what made you enter the education world?
I grew up in a family with several educators, including my father. I've enjoyed working with children for many years. I began in high school by working at Kids Club with elementary-aged children before school, teaching swimming lessons, and later working at a daycare during college. These early experiences sparked my desire to become a teacher. The opportunities I had in college to work in various classrooms and school districts only strengthened that desire and confirmed that teaching is the right path for me.
6. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My father, Chris, is a district administrator; my mother, Michelle, is a social worker; and my younger brother, Hayden, recently graduated with his teaching degree in May. I’m an avid reader, and also love to travel. Music is another interest of mine — whether it’s listening to it, attending concerts, or having participated in band, choir, and musicals when I was younger. In addition, I enjoy both learning and teaching about different parts of history.
7. Anything else you would like the community to know?
I’m excited to get to know the students and the community.
