Loyal American Legion Auxiliary holds August meeting

The Loyal American Legion Auxiliary Post 175 met on Aug. 12.

The meeting was called to order by Past President Jackie Rowley. Members opened with prayer, a moment of silence for deceased members, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the Preamble.

Tami Cook and Jodi Lindner had August birthdays. Roll call was taken, with 15 members present.

The secretary’s report was read by Julie Poehnelt with one correction. Elena Hurrell worked the blood drive, not Diana Hayes. The treasurer’s report was read by Norma Wenzel.

Old business included the following. Barb Lucht gave the sunshine report. A sympathy card was sent to the Marvin Miller family. A “thinking of you” card was sent to Hap Weyer. A sympathy card was sent to Pat Firnstahl.

New business was as follows. Tattoos will be done by Jackie Rowley and Kylie on the Sunday of Corn Fest for kids.

The car show will be Sept. 7. Four volunteers are needed. Sharon Rogers, Poehnelt, and Bob Hannum were signed up as of the meeting.

The fish fry will be Sept. 12. Norma Wentzel and Tami Cook will work that event. The steak feed will be Sept. 15, with Wentzel and Hurrell working. Rowley will set up the salad bar at 3:30 p.m.

At the September Auxillary meeting, someone will take officer and group pictures. Members are asked to wear Legion shirts and white pants.

The state convention was in July. Rowley gave an update. She said it was a good meeting. Sue Hemlock is new state president.

April 11-12 will be state bowling at Weston.

Sept. 20 is the District 7 Fall Convention at Loyal. Around 80 people are expected to attend. Raffle baskets from the Auxiliary will be done by Rogers, Rowley, Kris Schultz, Wentzel, Gladys Zuehlke, and Cook.

“In the Know” is scheduled for Oct. 4. Registration will be from 8-9 a.m., the meeting from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and lunch at 11:30 a.m. Rogers suggested a deep clean of the Legion on Aug. 27 at 9 a.m. Volunteers are Donna Langfeldt, Rogers, Zuehlke, Hurrell, Rowley, Hayes, and Cook. The$24drawingwaswon by Barb Lucht. The re-gift of fresh fruits and veggies won by Hayes. The next meeting will be Sept. 9. Chaplain Langfeldt offered the closing prayer. The meeting was adjourned by Rowley.
