Dr. Paul M. Schley, superintendent of the Cornell School District, has been elected to a second term, on the Governing Board of the School Superintendents Association (AASA). His term officially began July 1, and will conclude June 30, 2028. The board is a vital component of the organization, providing leadership and direction on national education policy, professional development and advocacy efforts, on behalf of school leaders across the country. Election to this board is a testament to a superintendent’s dedication, expertise and respected leadership within the educational community. “I am deeply honored and excited to remain on the AASA Governing Board, for a second and final term,” said Schley. “This is an incredible opportunity to contribute to the national conversation on public education and advocate for policies that support students, teachers and school communities nationwide. I look forward to collaborating with my esteemed colleagues, to advance AASA’s mission and ensure every child has access to a high-quality education.” Schley has been with Cornell, since 2002, where he has been instrumental in improving student outcomes, while maintaining a balanced budget, without going to referendum to exceed the Wisconsin revenue caps. His leadership has consistently focused on creating an environment where all students can thrive academically, socially and emotionally, mainly by recruiting, training and retaining an excellent staff. His election to the AASA Governing Board reflects his commitment to educational excellence, beyond the local level and his desire to influence positive change across the broader educational landscape. “My most important job, is to make sure the personnel of the school district are the best we can hire, people that are truly committed to the district and its overall success,” said Schley.
