Rib Lake baseball presents 2025 post-season awards
Rib Lake head baseball coach Dick Iverson announced the team awards as voted on by players and coaches following the team’s 18-6 spring season that included a Marawood North conference championship as well as a WIAA Division 4 regional title.
Junior Talon Scheithauer was named the team’s Most Valuable Player and won the Best Defense Award. His efforts during the season led to him to also be named the Marawood North Player of the Year and he earned honorable mention for the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association’s All-North Central District Team.
Scheithauer hit .323 overall and .357 in conference play while also posting a sparkling 0.61 earned run averages while going 5-1 in the Marawood North in 34.1 innings pitched. Overall, he was 7-4 with a 1.62 ERA in 60.2 innings pitched.
Junior Ethan Cook earned the Hustle Award. The first-team All-North pick did most of the catching for Rib Lake, hit .288 overall and .360 in conference and was 4-0 in pitching with a 3.55 ERA.
Scheithauer and Cook were named team captains for the 2025-26 season. Scheithauer also was a captain this past year with the now-graduated Brady Heiser.
Freshman Lucas Cook was named the team’s Most Improved Player. The outfielder and often the number-nine hitter hit an impressive .480 in league play and .356 overall during his first varsity season.
Heiser won a team award for leading the squad with 32 runs batted in. He also had the highest batting average at .407. Junior Seth Borchardt won the award for the team’s lowest ERA at 0.86 in 24.1 innings pitched.
Slade Scheithauer was a first-team All-North pick, Heiser and Borchardt were second-team picks and Lucas Cook and Tyler Matyka got honorable mention. Iverson was named the Marawood North’s Coach of the Year.
Iverson issued post-season thank you’s to his wife Teri for all she does behind the scenes, Jack Buksa for his field work and bus driving, the coaching staff of Ryan Scheithauer, Paul Yanko, Gary Hohl and Brad Borchardt, athletic director Jerod Blomberg for navigating a sometimes difficult spring and the fans for their support during the successful season.
