POST 147 LEGION BASEBALL - Medford’s Senior Legion gets walked off at Chippewa, beats Rhinelander

Held to one hit through six innings by Lucas Stahnke, Chippewa Falls Post 77’s Senior Legion squad got two hits in the bottom of the seventh Monday with the last one being a walk-off RBI single by Isaiah Henrichs that ended an outstanding 1-0 pitcher’s duel with Medford’s Legion Post 147 squad.
Until the seventh, the hosts’ only hit had been a fourth-inning single by Brecken Boisvert, who also happened to be at the other end of the pitcher’s duel. Boisvert got the shutout win for Chippewa Falls, also allowing just three hits, one each in the first three innings. He walked three and hit one batter while striking out nine.
Stahnke, a standout at Edgar this past high school season, walked only one and struck out five in his outstanding start for Medford. He got Boisvert to fly out for the first out of the bottom of the seventh, but Cole Perlberg then singled and moved to second base on a passed ball as Stahnke struck out Gavin Thompson to get within an out of sending the game to extra innings.
But Henrichs ended those thoughts, singling to left field to drive in Perlberg with the tie-breaking run.
Medford’s best chances to score against Boisvert came in the first two innings. In the top of the first, Jackson Blomberg walked and went to third on Blake Bargender’s single, but a strikeout ended the inning. In the second, Ryder Kraschnewski singled with one out and Will Wojcik walked with two down, but Boisvert got another strikeout to leave the two runners stranded.
Chippewa Falls (11-2) never had multiple runners in an inning until the seventh.
Medford, now 4-2, will next take part in the Antigo tournament this weekend, playing games at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Post 147 plays Antigo and D.C. Everest on Saturday and Fond du Lac and Germantown on Sunday.
Medford 16, Rebels 6
On July 2, Post 147 overturned an early 5-1 deficit and pulled away from host Rhinelander for a 16-6, six-inning win.
Blomberg had two hits and drove in four runs, while JV Castillo pitched five innings to get the win. It wasn’t easy early, but he settled in at the end of his outing, finishing with four strikeouts and three walks while allowing six hits. Just one of Rhinelander’s runs was earned.
Blomberg’s RBI single in the top of the first gave Post 147 a short-lived 1-0 lead. The Post 7 Rebels turned a Jackson Waydick double, a walk, a Vince White single and an outfield error into two runs in that inning. In the second, a two-out error opened the door for a three-run Rhinelander rally, keyed by White’s tworun double.
The comeback started with a three-run top of the third. Tanner Hraby led off with an infield hit and stole second. Castillo and Payton Schreiber walked. Blomberg singled in a run, Bargender hit a sacrifice fly and Schreiber scored on a passed ball.
After Rhinelander got its last run to make it 6-4, Post 147 took the lead for good with a four-run fourth, which was fueled by two walks and a hit batter. Castillo’s infield hit, compounded by a throwing error, cleared the bases and Schreiber’s hit scored Castillo.
A six-run fifth made it 14-6. Five runs scored on bases-loaded walks and Kraschnewski added a run-scoring single. Schreiber’s hit drove in a run and Blomberg added a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
Kraschnewski pitched a scoreless bottom of the sixth, striking out one. Schreiber was three for three with three runs scored and three driven in. Kraschnewski was two for four.
Lissner an All-Star
The 2025 Wisconsin American Legion All-Star rosters were announced last week and Medford Post 147’s Parker Lissner has made the cut.

Dylan Vanderbunt of Rhinelander, Grant Praslowicz of Antigo, Jack Tubbs of Stratford and Blake Raab of Auburndale High School and the Marshfield Legion team are among the players listed on the Stars’ roster.
