Medford Summer Classic set for Saturday; Rib Lake in the tourney


As the summer for Medford’s boys basketball program nears its end, the Raiders will provide fans a preview of the 2025-26 season with their 2025 Summer Classic Saturday at Medford Area Middle School.
The four-team tournament also features Rib Lake, who returns the majority of the roster that won the Marawood North and advanced to aWIAA Division 5 sectional final last March. Division 1 squads Marshfield and Eau Claire North also will take part. Marshfield is the defending Division 1 state runner-up.
Varsity and JV round-robin tournaments will be held with varsity games taking place in the large gym and JV games happening in the small gym.
Game schedules are the same in both gyms. The morning games are Medford vs. Rib Lake at 9:30 a.m. and Marshfield vs. Eau Claire North at 10:45 a.m. In the early afternoon round, Medford takes on Marshfield at noon, followed by Eau Claire North vs. Rib Lake at 1:15 p.m. The day wraps up with Rib Lake facing Marshfield at 2:30 p.m. and Medford taking on Eau Claire North at 3:45 p.m.
Concessions will be available throughout the day.
So far this summer, Medford’s varsity team has competed in two Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook (WBBY) tournaments, played in a one-day tournament at Marathon June 29 where it went 2-1 and is 4-4 in Tuesday night summer league play held weekly at Wausau East. The Raiders went 1-3 at the WBBY tournament in Marshfield June 67, beating Wausau East for its win. They went 2-2 June 13-14 at the WBBY event in Kaukauna, earning wins over Wisconsin Rapids and Appleton West and losing close games with Green Bay Preble and a Cedarburg program coming off a WIAA Division 2 state appearance.
