ALL-MARAWOOD TRACK & FIELD - Seven Rib Lake athletes were Marawood Conference award winners

ALL-MARAWOOD TRACK & FIELD
The Marawood Conference presented individual awards to seven members of Rib Lake’s track and field program following the conference’s 12-team championship meet at Marathon on May 19. The conference presents first-, secondand third-place awards to the top three finishers in each event. Rib Lake junior Jed Henderson repeated as the conference’s champion in the boys high jump competition. He cleared the bar at 6 feet, 3 inches, which is his personal record and gave him the win by 3 inches over three jumpers who hit 6 feet. Henderson eventually qualified for the WIAA Division 3 state championships in the event, finishing ninth with a jump of 6-2. Rib Lake’s 3,200-meter relay team of senior Jack Regier, junior Truman Smith, sophomore Seamus Highfill and junior Kaleb Scott also was a conference champion and winner of All-Marawood first-place award. The team finished its race in 8:26.29 to beat runner-up Phillips by 5.61 seconds. Rib Lake advanced to state in the event and placed ninth in a time of 8:13.6. Junior Emma Tlusty won two awards, including a Marawood championship in the girls 100-meter high hurdles. Her winning time 17.96 seconds, 0.74 seconds ahead of Newman Catholic’s Enya MacCarthy. Tlusty also won a third-place award in the 300-meter hurdles with her time of 50.56 seconds. Tlusty’s year ended at state with a 15th-place time of 17.17 seconds in the 100-meter high hurdles. Scott and Regier were winners of All-Marawood second-place awards. Scott got his in the 800-meter run, taking second at 2:06.32, 0.46 seconds behind Brady Annis of Marathon. Scott went on to win a fourth-place medal at the state meet with a school-record time of 1:56.09. Regier took second in the Marawood’s 3,200meter run with his time of 10:15.67. Stratford’s Cree Defoe won in 9:59.64. Sophomore Maddie Rademacher won an All-Marawood third-place award in the girls high jump. She cleared the bar at 4 feet, 10 inches. Rademacher later advanced to the state meet, placing 13th with a jump of 5 feet. The Marawood Conference also awards honorable mention to the fourth- through sixth-place finishers in each event. Scott picked up one of those by taking fifth in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:55.17. Rib Lake’s boys finished fifth in the conference meet’s team standings with 43 points. Marathon won the team title with 165 points, beating second-place Stratford by 10. Rib Lake’s girls scored 24.33 points to place 10th ahead of Chequamegon (17) and Prentice (5). Stratford outscored Marathon 101-98.33 to win the team title.
